Description : Our IT team are looking for an Applications Support Manager to join their Applications team. The main purpose of this role is to oversee the provision of Business As Usual Application Support, including both incident management and project delivery, and technical guidance to Application Support Team members as appropriate. You’ll be responsible for the line management of the team as well as general resource allocation and the team’s ongoing development.
This is a full time, permanent position usually based out of our Bristol office.

What you’ll do
As well as management of our Application Support team, as our Application Support Manager you’ll assist the Head of IT Applications with the team’s operational delivery, planning and project involvement globally. More specific duties will include:
Mentoring and performance management of team members where appropriate
Organising and negotiating the allocation of team resources
Assisting with the management of the deployment, monitoring, maintenance and support of OC Applications across all offices worldwide
Working with stakeholders to define IT requirements for new technology implementations. To facilitate this benchmark, analyse, report on and make recommendations for the improvement of OC’s IT systems and service delivery through the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending initiatives
Delegated authority for the Head of IT Applications with the autonomy to make decisions in his absence
Ensure that incoming support or development work to the IT Applications Team is dealt with promptly to ensure a timely and effective resolution to end user impacting issues
Relationship management with external suppliers and contractors
Maintain regular communications with the Head of IT Applications regarding pertinent IT activities
Actively manage both your own and team members’ personal training and development, identifying suitable development opportunities and contributing to departmental knowledge sharing
Other duties to assist with the smooth running of the Application Support Team as assigned
What we’re looking for
As this is a manager level role, we are looking for someone who comes from a technical background but also has the ability to lead a team. You’ll need to demonstrate:
Supervisory experience with an understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures
Excellent consultancy skills (problem solving, change management, influencing, communication, research and data collection and business analysis, process mapping, creative thinking, negotiation, etc.)
Understanding of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Strong understanding of project management principles
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
An understanding of ITIL best practice framework (ITIL v4 Certification ideal)
Technical knowledge:
Ideally you’ll need to have a detailed understanding of the Legal environment and the applications typical to it as you’ll be expected to pitch in with the Applications team to meet deadlines if required.
Specifically you’ll need to demonstrate understanding and ideally previous experience of the following Applications:
Core desktop and office systems – ideally Windows 10 and Office 2016/365
iManage Work (or other leading Document Management System)
Elite (or other leading Practice Management System),
InterAction (or other leading Contact Relationship Management solution) etc.
Workflow Development using a process automation tool (Intapp Flow presently in use)
Case Management tools (e.g. Visualfiles)
Intapp Integrate or similar systems integration technology
SharePoint or other Web based technology
Microsoft Office Suite & Template Management Solutions
Microsoft SQL Server (and T-SQL) 2005 and later
