SCOPE:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Case Management, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)) supports the COVID HOTLINE responding to calls from client and company employees. The LPN interviews the employee and obtains an assessment of the employees self-reported symptoms. Using CDC guidelines, the LPN provides recommendations to isolate or quarantine. COVID tracking of potential exposures is documented. The LPN tracks the COVID case through multiple follow up contacts until the employee is able to return to work. This position will also support other medical management operations as needed.
LOCATION:
Cape Canaveral Florida with hybrid work from home/office schedule. Will consider remote for the right candidate.
SCHEDULE:
This position is casual/as needed, meaning there is no guarantee of a set number of hours per week.
The COVID HOTLINE is open from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, 7 days a week. Flexible/alternate schedules to work 20 to 40 hours per week are available between the hours of 7am to 8pm. Hours over 40 may be available to support an increase in call volume.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Telephone interview with employee
Accurately documents employee self-reported COVID like symptoms and or test result
Performs a contact tracing assessment and documents potential exposure to other employees or work environment
Accurately reviews current CDC guidance and or employer specific guidance
Provides direction to the employee related to prevention, isolation or quarantine
Uses Nursing judgement to provide correct guidance and documents employee case scenario
Accurate notifications to both the employee and employer
Contacts the employee as schedule for continued monitoring
Documents return to work criteria and clearance to return to work
Collaborates with the Employer and other internal COVID hotline staff
Flexible to schedule to meet needs of the case volume
Consistently learns and applies new CDC guidance and employer guidance to managing cases
Focus on metrics and organization of the workload to meet needs
OTHER DUTIES:
Serve as backup to other nurses for daily duties and assists with follow-up calls as well as other duties as assigned.
Work in teams and coordinate work tasks to be completed on time
Telephone support – designated to receive incoming calls
Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy. Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and goals. Ensures safe operating conditions within an area of responsibility. Encourages co-workers to work safely. Identifies “close calls” and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1+ years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
Fully unencumbered nursing license and the ability to be favorably credentialed
Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products, Outlook and Teams application
Must be able to multitask, be flexible, be organized, and have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as exceptional attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Case Management Experience
COVID contact tracing experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
May require bending and lifting up to 15 lbs.
