Responsibilities:
In concert with the Head of Audience, Chief Growth Officer, and Assistant Managing Editor of International, set and execute our international audience strategy
Define near and long-term international audience goals and targets
Articulate our unique international mission and ambition
Set and execute operational plans for the growing international Audience teams
Define our international competitor set, and own our competitive reporting process and toolset
Spearhead research that will identify unique international Product, coverage, and distribution opportunities
Convene newsroom and business leadership to regularly review and discuss international audience efforts, opportunities, and competitive performance
With our Associate Managing Editor for the Home team, and Audience Editor in NY, define our on and off-platform international programming strategy
Own our relationship with our newsroom head of international coverage and audience and work to translate audience opportunities into coverage plans
With our VP of Platform, Partnerships, lead partner conversations with Platforms aligned to international distribution needs
With the Head of DIG, build and help oversee a matrixed team of data analysts that support our international business and newsroom leadership
Manage and support the career development of the internationally-based Audience editor team in Seoul, London, Mexico, and Canada
Evangelize audience needs and opportunities with our international correspondents, and our domestic staff
Act as a deputy to the Head of Audience / CDO on all strategic and operational planning work
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of progressive strategy experience, preferably with a quantitative background
Experience working with product teams
Experience creating data analysis, financial models, and strategic frameworks on par with leading management consulting firms
Experience communicating recommendations to senior company leadership in writing (e.g., memos, slide presentations) and verbally
Experience breaking down complex problems into pieces that can be solved with data, analysis, and clear assumptions
Highly innovative, creative and intuitive problem solver with strong command presence.
Excellent presentation and coaching skills.
A demonstrated track record of building relationships with cross functional teams, as well as partnership to leaders who have trusted you for strategic counsel and guidance.
