POSITION SUMMARY
The UC Investments Private Equity Team manages a $12 billion portfolio that is expected to grow significantly over the coming years. The Investment Associate will be responsible for supporting the Managing Director and Private Equity team in the execution of primary fund commitments and co-investments on a global basis. The role emphasizes quantitative analysis of investment opportunities, portfolio analytics and monitoring, and industry research.
UC Investments is a small team that believes strongly in collaboration. In addition to supporting the Private Equity team, the Investment Associate will collaborate with colleagues across our private and public markets teams.
Responsibilities

Investment Research – Primary Funds: – Screen, monitor, and assist in the selection of investment managers through fund and asset class research, manager meetings, and portfolio analysis – Support, track, and monitor all phases of the investment process and investment performance – Conduct asset class research and assist with the development of investment themes

Investment Research – Co-investments: – Participate actively in due diligence work streams on prospective investments (e.g. financial, commercial, tax and legal due diligence) – Build and review financial models to assess co-investment opportunities; develop base case and downside case return scenarios and estimate return sensitivities – Draft internal investment recommendation documents – Monitor and support portfolio investments throughout our investment period

Portfolio Monitoring: – Perform quantitative and qualitative reviews of the investment portfolio on a quarterly basis – Analyze performance attribution and performance benchmarking – Create presentation and reporting materials for internal and external stakeholders

Ad-hoc assignments to support the Managing Director and Investment Director on an as-needed basis
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of work experience in financial services, preferably with leading firms in private equity, M&A, leverage finance, accounting or investment consulting
Understanding of and/or demonstrated interest in the private equity and venture capital industry
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with an attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Strong financial modeling skills and fluency in understanding financial statements and LBO models
Education
Bachelor’s degree in related area
Advanced degree preferred but not required
License/Certifications
CFA, CAIA, or similar preferred
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, work for this position is performed remotely. The selected candidate may be required to report to work onsite in Oakland, CA when onsite operations resume.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary: Recommended hiring salary is $100,000 – $122,000, commensurate with experience
