The Learning & Development Specialist will also take responsibility for the development of newly hired team members with a focus on activities that have an impact across the portfolio. Additionally, this position will initially focus on crafting an onboarding process that supports our commitment to the employee experience and never-ending pursuit of ongoing growth and development.THE DETAILSAssisting in the development and implementation of the company training strategy, with an initial focus on design and implementation of the new hire learning experienceEstablishing guidelines on ideal delivery format for various types of learning that take place within the first 6 months of tenureManaging the Mentor Program, to include, but not limited to, onboarding of new mentors, certification/recertification of mentors, monthly group meetings, maintaining positional checklists, matching newly hired or promoted team members with their mentors, actioning session feedback to ensure a positive and effective experience for all stakeholdersCreating and promoting a culture of lifelong learning through engagement with initiatives such as but not limited to our self-directed employee development program, quarterly incentivized learning challenges, and bi-monthly learning blogsIdentifying the business need for training and following instructional design processes to create content that satisfies the business needs and improves performanceIdentifying innovative ways to deliver learning content, incorporating effective use of technologyDeveloping assessment tools to measure the impact of training and effective transfer of knowledge to actual on-the-job performanceEnsuring new and existing team members meet initial and annual training requirements by required deadlines in the Learning Management System (LMS)Assessing current or future employee training needs through direct communication, conducting surveys, or other methodsCreating a fun and motivational learning environmentSupporting our annual Venterra Leadership ConferenceMaintaining a regular travel and course schedule within budget requirementsTHE QUALIFICATIONSBilingual preferredA true passion for learning and helping others develop their skills to improve performanceExperience delivering live and virtual trainingIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Articulate Storyline, or other comparable training technologyEffective verbal and written communication skills via all communication channelsAbility to present with confidence to a large groupProven ability to motivate a group or individuals to achieve excellenceDetail-oriented with a sense of urgencyTakes pride in achieving resultsEducation/ExperienceMinimum 4 years of experience in training or employee developmentMinimum 2 years of experience working directly with onboarding and/or mentor programsPreferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experienceTravel RequirementsBased in the Houston Corporate office in northwest Houston, initially, this Learning & Development Specialist will be required to travel throughout Houston as well as potentially assist in other regions if needed.
