This position functions as the Medical Affairs (MA) leader between the organization and key external customers to further Scientific Exchange. You will provide non-promotional product and field scientific support to Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, and Managed Markets by utilizing academic credentials, clinical knowledge, and scientific expertise in scientific / clinical area under their responsibility to communicate with healthcare providers, academic researchers, and organizations. These relationships ensure that key opinion leaders and organizations have access to relevant scientific information, and that insights gathered externally will be communicated to key cross-functional partners internally. The Medical Affairs Manager should understand the medical procedures & therapy as they apply to BD MDS, emerging evidence, and ongoing clinical trials/research.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Create, implement and maintain an integrate medical plan for the regional business unit.
Attend relevant business unit (BU) leadership team meetings to develop and provide updates regarding BU MA strategic plan within the hub and countries.
Develop strategic partnerships with scientific, medical experts, organizations and business partners based on clinical/scientific data and information.
Provide timely feedback/information on emerging medical trends and opportunities to internal stakeholders.
Direct the identification and development of KOLs across different areas as needed
Provide input into the development and ensure the appropriate execution of relevant local and regional medical meetings (e.g., advisory boards, round tables, symposia, webinars and investigator meetings) while meeting appropriate legal and regulatory guidelines.
Investigate new uses of BD’s products and ensure collaboration with appropriate scientific societies.
Co-develop appropriate strategic go-to-market models with business group and commercial teams.
Oversight for ALL clinical data generation activities in the BU, with specific responsibility for any study that includes human subject research. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical research projects.
Act as a liaison for Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) activities within the BU territory, specifically as it pertains to supporting investigators through the application process and following up on study performance as per respective research grant agreement.
Participate as needed as part of the crisis-management teams for marketed products, i.e. in case of field corrective actions.
Act as Medical Reviewer / Approver for Promotional materials within the territory / Region.
Lead the developments of ALL BU clinical publications, whether through ISS, based on the Regional Company Sponsored Studies, or informal customer requests.
Maintain a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organization and its products, current scientific research, and publications.
About You :-
You have an MD, PharmD, or PhD (with clinical experience) educational background and at least 3 to 5 years of field based medical affairs experience, or 3 to 5 years of work experience in the medical device/pharmaceutical industry and experience of acute care procedures.
Demonstrates ability to present approved scientific data to HCPs in both group and individual settings.
Ability to critically analyze and interpret complicated clinical and pre-clinical data.
Utilization of effective communication to adjust for multiple communication styles.
Ability to identify unmet medical, educational, and research needs within the medical community.
Knowledge of the Healthcare System and medical device industry, including relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives.
Knowledge of Human Clinical Research design and process.
Understanding of the healthcare system, medical practice, and clinical decision-making regarding healthcare provision scientific / clinical area under their responsibility.
Demonstrates integrity and ability to develop trust with peers and others within the US and Worldwide BD Medical Affairs and other BU functions.
