This is an exciting opportunity for someone in recovery who has lived experience of the negative impact of alcohol and/or drug use in their life.
New post based within alcohol and drug treatment services in South Lanarkshire ( CAReS). The post will provide assertive outreach to people who are struggling to engage with services and support the delivery of recovery based care. The post is ideally suited to someone who has lived experience of negative impact caused by alcohol and/or drug use and has been in a period of sustained recovery for 3 plus years.
The Community Addiction Recovery Service (CAReS) in South Lanarkshire provides harm reduction interventions and treatment to people adversely affected by alcohol and drugs. The service delivers an integrated model of care and is staffed by colleagues from 2 different organisations (NHSL and SLC). The service operates in all 4 South Lanarkshire localities. Each team within the service is managed by a health or a social work colleague.
The post holders will be part of a multi-disciplinary team who offer support to people who are adversely affected by alcohol and/or drug use. The post holders will provide assertive outreach to individuals identified by the multi-disciplinary team. They will encourage engagement by providing harm reduction interventions as well as linkages into treatment and support of third sector organisations in South Lanarkshire.
The successful candidate will possess SVQ 3 in Health/Social Care or working towards, or equivalent experience working in a health or social care role/voluntary role/or have personal/lived experience of adversity caused by substance use.
The post holder will have a working/living knowledge and understanding of the consequences and impact of adverse substance use (physical, social, environmental).
