Description : Job Introduction
As our Production Manager – Nights, you will responsible for delivering the production plan within agreed budgetary and service levels, that maximizes factory efficiently, and delivers customer orders on time and in full. Success will be through your effective management and leadership of your First Line Managers and Production Operatives.
Main Responsibilities
Liaise with the Factory Manager to ensure planned volumes are sufficient and achievable, on both a daily and weekly basis, and schedule the work of the department.
Both directly, and via the FLM’s, ensure that sufficient raw material and packaging is available, both short term and mid term, and that all equipment is in safe working order.
Effectively and efficiently manage the resources at your disposal, to ensure best use of people, plant and materials, and that the areas under your control achieve the targets for output volume, quality (including as examples GMP and hygiene standards), and efficiency.
Ensure that all product specifications, and all technical policies and procedures, are adhered to and, if appropriate, report non-compliance and take corrective action.
Supervise the FLM’s, giving direction, motivating, coaching and counselling as necessary to encourage them to achieve their performance targets.
Management of people’s conduct, performance and attendance to achieve the required production targets.
Both directly, and via the FLM’s, ensure that training plans are formulated and implemented for all employees.
Development of individuals to ensure total compliance and to allow maximum shift flexibility.
Identify individuals with the potential to work at a higher level and put in plans to assist their development.
Investigate process and quality issues as they arise to understand root cause and provide management team with recommendations/solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
Maintain and improve standards throughout the factory.
Delivery of improvements in all performance measures (KPIs).
Ensure that an effective communication process is in place to inform, and be informed, of all relevant business issues.
Use of, and participation in continuous improvements initiatives, to enable sustainable improvements in production performance.
Ensure that Lean Tier 1 and 2 meetings are conducted within the standards required and that there is a focus on Continuous Improvement.
To be responsible for the occupational health and safety of people within the area covered by the jobholder by ensuring that safe and healthy working practices are followed and that all aspects of company, site and legal occupational health and safety requirements are met.
Impeccable customer relationships both internal and external.
One team mentality being demonstrated across factory operations.
Responsible for ensuring all SAP activities are completed within their area of responsibility including but not limited to bulk out and stock takes.
In addition, you must be prepared to undertake any reasonable requests made to meet the business needs of the company.
The Ideal Candidate
Proven experience of successfully leading and managing a team of permanent and agency staff including performance management, conduct, adherence to company policies and procedures including disciplinary, grievance and attendance issues
Ability to clearly communicate and build a strong and effective team including presentation skills, coaching, influencing and the ability to deal appropriately with conflict
Strong planning and organisational skills
Ability to problem solve and make effective decisions
Good level of numeracy, able to calculate and report key performance indicators
Self motivated and highly resilient
Ability to deal with colleagues across all levels and functions within the business
FMCG experience
High level of customer service skills
SAP experience
