Job Summary:
The nurse assumes primary responsibility for and provides direct professional nursing care to patients having renal disorders, develops nursing care plans and designates nursing care actions for specific patient needs.
Job Responsibilities
Provide safe and high quality renal nursing care appropriate to the specific needs of patients admitted with kidney problems.
Uses nursing process as a framework for caring patients with kidney diseases such as renal failure, renal calculi, etc caused by diabetes, hypertension, or substance abuse.
Examines patient’s psychological, emotional, and physical condition, together with the nursing assessment form
Uses assessment parameters for determining the status of renal and urinary function
Possess knowledge of the various diagnostic tests used to determine renal and urinary function determine renal and urinary function.
Assesses treatment needs and develops nursing care plan including such things as patient comfort, coping ability, daily living requirements; developing measurable goals, discharge planning and documents the same in the nurses chart
Identifies patient’s problems, symptoms and behavioural changes and reports to physician
Carries out therapeutic treatment prescribed, by the nursing care plan and evaluates response to treatment.
Administers medical and nursing regimens including medications, treatments; irrigates and cleans wounds, changes dressings, inserts and monitors IV lines, draws blood, monitors vital signs, inserts or changes catheters, monitors fluid intake and output; operates and monitors sophisticated medical equipment that keeps track of major bodily functions
Cares for patients with indwelling urinary catheter and manages care of patients with urinary incontinence.
Assists the patient in activities of daily living such as bathing, oral care, and feedings; evaluates effectiveness of care and adjusts accordingly
Takes specimens and samples for testing
Informs the laboratory reports to the physician and follows critical values reporting protocols
Initiates cardiopulmonary resuscitation or other emergency response activities and codes in case of a medical emergency
Evaluates and carries out physician’s orders ensuring that they are appropriate such as not causing allergic reactions and given in proper dosages.
Coordinates all patient health services by communicating with doctors, pharmacy,
laboratories, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and dietary services.
Keeps accurate legal written records through charting, nursing care plans, and case records of such things as: patient’s health status and any changes; treatments; medications administered; unusual incidents involving patients and patient education, objective data such as patient requests or instructions to nursing staff on following shift; laboratory data; known allergies;
height; weight; vital signs; intake and output; may participate in collecting data for research purposes.
Coordinates with the ward secretary regarding admission, discharge and transfer of patients; and billing related issues.

Job Summary
The Adult Critical Care RN is responsible for managing the care of the adult or elderly patient experiencing life-threatening problems requiring complex assessment, high intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
Responsibilities
Provide direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with multi-organ trauma or multi-system failure, according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the unit head and departmental head.
Conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the adult or elderly patient’s immediate condition or needs
Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by the adult or elderly patient’s condition
Assess patient for change in status and institute appropriate interventions. Initiate necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient.
Interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients and patient’s family members.

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse plans and provides professional nursing care for ambulatory care patients in accordance with physician orders, established policies and protocols.
Job Responsibilities
Performs physical, psychological and obstetric examination of patients admitted to labor ward with the nursing assessment form
Reviews obstetric history and develops plan of care.
Initiates fetal heart monitor, performs vaginal exams, interprets fetal heart tones and determines frequency duration and intensity of contractions.
Monitors progress of laboring mothers, interprets fetal heart monitor and notifies physician when appropriate for progress or problems.
Assists mother with breathing exercises, pain management techniques and administers pain medications as ordered.
Prepares birthing room for delivery using strict sterile technique.
Prepares mothers for elective or emergency Cesarean Section
Provides emotional support to mother, and assists her during the labor process.
Prepares the mother for any pre-op diagnostic studies, if needed.
Assists physician with initiation of oxytocin inductions and monitors progress of labor: mix IV oxytocin drips, adjust flow rate or pump according to physician’s orders, be alert for abnormalities or problems.
Document nursing care properly on chart forms, birth certificates, and computer.
Assists physician in administering care during labor: artificial rupture of membranes, initiation of internal fetal monitoring or intrauterine pressure catheter, initiation of pitocin drip or other IV medications, sterile vaginal exams or other procedures.
Performs immediate post-delivery care of mother; administers medications to mother as ordered, assists physician with resuscitation, performs fundal massage and monitors vital signs and lochia as needed,
Promotes infant/parent bonding and obtains newborn identification per policy.
Performs post-partum care and provides patient education to mother: examines lochia, episiotomy and fundus, monitors vital signs as per policy.
Educates mother regarding breast feeding, care of newborn, postnatal diet and exercises.
Report any abnormalities to physician.
