We are looking for someone who will support the Application & Development Support Lead in driving the delivery and maintenance of high-quality solutions in a cost-effective manner and who will be able to model delivery excellence for more junior members of the team.
For our next generation of applications, we are looking to move into the Cloud, specifically moving into the Azure serverless technology stack, including Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grids, CosmosDB and PAAS SQL. We are looking for a candidate who is ready to start on that journey with us and motivated to learn new technologies and concepts as well as continue to develop our existing applications.

Supporting and maintaining our core Road Operations Applications, you will manage a team of L2 Application Support resources, responding to incidents and problems raised as well as delivering business change through small to medium projects.
What will I be doing?
Works closely with the delivery leads, architects & internal customers to understand the business requirements and to ensure that Application Development and Support requirements are also considered
Deputise for the Application and Development Support Lead where required
Delivering specific projects within the team
When required take the lead in resolving Major Incidents
Manage the Level 2 support team, responding to incidents for Applications within the Road IT Tower
Engage with all Level 3 development support teams responsible for problem resolution (technical fixes), BAU changes and project development
Oversee the deployment of AA custom code & externally developed code to AA Hosted non-development & production environments
Once trained, you will be expected to provide management call out for 2nd and 3rd line support, including ‘out of hours’ support on a rota basis
Model best practice in your own team, acting as a role model for more junior team members
Identification and reporting on Key Performance Indicators for our applications and technical estate
Continually monitor the estate and raise opportunities for improvement
Continually improve the team’s efficiency by ensuring adherence to best practice and working with the Delivery teams to improve monitoring
Highlight risks to the Road Risk group and provide suggestions for improvements where possible
Ensure that all processes and standards are documented and followed
Engage with 3rd party supplier to manage defects identified with 3rd party developed applications & resolve incidents
Own the Road IT Wiki making sure it is kept up to date, and new applications are added when required
What do I need?
An in depth understanding of the full Software Delivery Lifecycle (ideally in both waterfall and agile models)
Experience of deploying and supporting IT solutions in complex (i.e., multi-project, multi-system) environments
Demonstrable experience in the timely delivery of medium-large scale Platform Changes programmes/projects
Significant experience of managing and owning BAU applications support and overseeing a L2 support function made up of on and offshore staff
Evidence of spend management and oversight
Strong Communication and Relationship building with all leaves of the organisation
Evidence of Coaching and mentoring
Experience in MSSQL, Linux Shell Scripting, Power Shell, Oracle, Azure, Administration, Linux, Solaris, Node & PM2, IIS, Apache HTTP Server,
Apache Tomcat, Dynatrace App Insights, Service Now
