Employee Communications and Experiences is part of Nike’s Consumer and Marketplace Communications team, whose vision is to use our collective voice to inspire the world to fall in love with sport through Nike!

Much like it has with consumers, the pandemic has shifted how we connect and engage with employees – and many of these shifts are permanent. We’ve seen the pandemic spur a major rollout of digital tools across the enterprise, including Workvivo and Slack. Technology will continue to be an enabler to reach store employees as we increase our physical store footprint in the coming years. As a result, our communications teams rely on an effective, well-designed and supported, curated set of digital and social channels as our “go to” for employee communications.
Though the future of communications will be digitally driven, it must also bring employees together with experiences that build emotional connections between people and their work. Many “live” interactions will be through screens and video and will play an even greater role as a storytelling channel and as a connector of people. Agenda, content planning, event design and management with and an experiential approach will set powerful live virtual events apart from the bland.
The Consumer & Marketplace Employee Communications & Experiences team builds new capabilities and advises others across the C&M communications function. This team works closely with our Geo C&M Comms teams, Global Communications Function and other key partners to serve as strategists, influencers, advisors and editors.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a highly motivated communications professional with a passion for retail and helping Nike’s firstline employees. This position is uniquely focused on driving the narrative responsible for informing, engaging and inspiring our 40,000+ global store athletes! In collaboration with key team members including geo comms partners, NAX, HR and Store Operations, this position obsesses making Nike’s retail positions the envy of the industry.
The candidate needs to be a strong writer and problem-solver, with a keen eye for detail and a creative approach to reaching our audience.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
If this is you, you’ll be partnering with other team members to bring new thinking and creative approaches to help evolve our employee communications and engagement model as we continue to move to a more digitally-focused engagement model while keeping the employee experience at the center of all we do. As part of this, you’ll also:
Support content creation against the strategic narrative priorities for C&M across all channels.
Own, manage and evolve our internal social app for retail as a key communications channel to reach our global workforce of 40,000+ “unconnected” employees. Includes driving events to increase active users, engagement and overall connection to the brand.
Support employee engagement opportunities like ONM All-Hands Meetings, written Quarterly Business Updates, and Leaders Plugged In sessions as directed.
Provide input on key employee-facing initiatives across Global + Geo C&M Comms and Global Comms as requested.
Use employee data/sentiment to help guide our communication strategy, efficiency, and reach, and link to employee engagement and listening feedback; establish baseline metrics to measure success.
Understand business and employee needs and help develop the right templates, tools and channel strategy to support engagement, awareness and collaboration at all levels.
Build strong relationships with key collaborators as assigned, understand their communication requirements and provide them with strategic advice and counsel.
Work across the business to elevate the purpose and role of strategic employee communications and engagement across the organization, building strong partnerships and serve as a trusted advisor.
Contribute positively to a team culture of trust, engagement and development where ideas are heard, and everyone is included.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
In this position you’ll work with peer groups in our geographies, as well as Corporate Communications and Consumer Create / Digital / Product Communications, Purpose Communications, Nike Athlete Experience Digital Employee Experience, and Human Resources.
WHAT YOU BRING Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
1-3 years experience in corporate communications or agency
Excellent writing, strategic planning and editorial management skills combined with speed, flexibility, and attention to detail
Creative problem solver and agile solution finder
Program management
Ability to develop communications that engage across multiple platforms (i.e., mobile, intranet, video, long-form features, digital newsletters, script writing, etc.)
Understanding of the evolving digital communications landscape
Proficient written and spoken English
Preferred:
Knowledge of sports culture, footwear or apparel industry
Experience in internal or employee communications
Experience working with high-profile executives
High aptitude for creative thinking, balanced against bottom-line business needs
Ability to work collaboratively with others and develop consensus within diverse groups and with people at all levels within the organization
Ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns, share ideas, and develop effective responses, or elevate to higher management
