Description : Under direct supervision assist other Optical Lab Techs in producing and providing eyewear to members in a timely manner, as established by departmental policies and guidelines.
Essential Functions:
Production: Depending on department typical duties/tasks may include: deboxing, verification of lenses/frames, taping, blocking, deblocking, picking lenses/frames, stocking lenses/frames, backside coating, wash up lenses, tool picking, mail/shipping, answering phones, receiving stock, ordering stock, mounting and data processing. Reference Lab Training Skills spreadsheet for a more complete list.Assist other lab personnel in duties as directed.Clean and maintain optical lab and equipment as directed.Develop skills in assigned department with the goal of gaining proficiency in a minimum of 8 different tasks to qualify for promotion to Lab Tech II.

No prior experience required, this is an entry level position.

High School diploma or equivalent.
License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:
Good hand/eye coordination, visual acuity and color perception.
Good oral and written communication skills and able to follow directions.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year of optical lab experience.
Basic optical knowledge.
Basic knowledge of departmental and Kaiser Permanente organizational safety rules and standards.
Knowledge of optical surfacing equipment, finishing equipment or optical lab software.
