Description : The role is required to support all administrative tasks in a very busy ophthalmology department. The role requires reception cover on a number of different locations so you will be competent in dealing with patients face to face, be polite and professional, making appointments, cashing up the clinics, answering queries, scanning and so on. You will need to be observant and aware of your surroundings.
Reception cover for a number of reception areas, booking appointments, checking patients in and out, preparing for the clinic, printing labels for minors operations and laser procedures and also injection patients, ensuring doctors and nurses have their clinic lists, deal with queries and call patients when necessary. You will work on a rota basis so one week you may be on reception and another week you may be working in the admin office. This is to ensure that the everyone can cover all aspects of the administrative roles.

If your role is covered by the regulations, you will be required to provide proof ofyour full vaccinationstatus as part of your pre-employment checks prior to your start date.
Administrative tasks, reception duties such as checking patients in on arrival, checking them out when departing, inputting coding procedures which may have taken place in the department, booking follow up appointments. All management of appointments such as booking, rescheduling, bringing forward, dealing with any queries in person and over the phone and via email.
Preparing for clinic to ensure that all clinics lists are printed and provided for the nursing team, technicians and doctors so that they are aware of who to expect in the department, ensure they all have outcome forms and labels if necessary.
It is important as a patient facing role and first contact with patients that you are professional, polite and helpful at all times.
