Working at Dent Reality is an opportunity to shape the future of AR navigation. As one of the first Android Developers, you will be responsible for owning and building the Android app from the ground up, you will be given the freedom to utilise the latest cutting-edge technology to find creative technical solutions to challenging problems. You will work with highly talented and motivated colleagues and we’ll look for your leadership in building a world-class product and Android team. We move quickly, and balance the excitement of rapid prototyping of new features, designing completely new interactions and experiences, with the satisfaction of well-engineered solutions.
What do we do?
Our vision is that every physical space will become digitally connected, enabling an entirely new type of interaction with the world around us. Served in a frictionless manner, a “smart space” unlocks rich information and context, which allows for insights and more informed decisions – transforming 1bn daily interactions with the world.
Right now, the biggest players in tech are working on building next-gen Augmented Reality hardware and wearables, and we’re building the killer consumer use-cases for this transformative technology.
So far, we’ve built technology breakthroughs in AR navigation, indoor mapping and precise location – and with our first retailer partnership, we’ve enabled the first-ever “smart space”.
We’re bringing this next-generation technology to everyone, with an app that works on every phone, and in the future becomes essential. Check out this 1 min video from our first partnership with Marks & Spencer, where we aim to power the future shopping experience.
The challenges here are hard and rewarding. Every day, our team is collaborating across different skill sets to explore new problems and build innovative solutions that drive us towards our goal. If you’re passionate, driven and looking for the opportunity to have a huge influence on the direction this innovation takes, we want to speak to you.
Who are we?
Our team is led by pioneers in AR, mapping and location technologies. We previously built the largest open-source project for Apple’s AR platform (5k stars on GitHub), enabling thousands of developers to build world-scale AR apps. And we have decades of product experience across organisations like Dyson, Esri, Ordnance Survey and Shopmatic.
We’re backed by the first investors into Oculus, founders of large platforms such as Indeed, Tumblr and Applovin, as well as execs from Foursquare and Citymapper.
We partner with some of the largest mapping and technology platforms in the world, giving us the opportunity to work with the latest innovations.
What will you be doing?
We’ve developed proprietary positioning technology that combines passive Wi-Fi signals with on-device data. You’ll be designing and building the customer experience on the best and latest native technologies, working with new wearables and helping to lead the technical direction across the whole Android ecosystem.
On a day to day basis you’ll be working closely with the Android Lead, Product Manager and the rest of the technical team on the following priorities:
Researching and identifying the technology stack required to effectively implement our unique indoor positioning technology on Android.
Designing the architecture and building the foundations of a modern Android app/SDK by writing clean, robust and efficient code.
Continuously discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies to maximise development efficiency.
Contributing to wider discussions on app design, goals and company culture.
What you might achieve in your first 3-6 months
Break ground on a green-field Android implementation of our in-development iOS app.
Identify and evaluate the challenges and potential solutions in bringing our principal technology to the Android platform.
Prototyping and iterating of a range of technologies and new features.
Extend the existing CI infrastructure for automated testing and building of Android code.
Creating our presence on the Google Play console with a view to launching a white-label app.
