We are looking for an Audience Writer to join our award-winning editorial team.
You will have an eye for weird, wonderful and wacky stories from the UK and beyond, that entertain our readers in huge numbers. You will uncover stories where no else thought to look, reporting on topics before they start trending as our rivals are left struggling to catch up. You will be a social media and SEO hotshot who understands how to deliver content to the largest possible audience.
Key Responsibilities
Source, create, publish and share content
Write in an engaging and easy-to-access style that entertains and informs
Be creative with a stream of original ideas for content that the readers will love
Have a deep understanding of how people behave on social media and search engines and use that to create content ideas
Play an active part in helping your content reach its audience by sharing it in the right places and engaging with your audience
Publish content to a high standard with pictures, video, audio, strong headlines and an understanding of SEO where necessary
Manage relevant site sections and social feeds
Use analytics to inform content decisions
Ensure content is produced with the correct metadata at all times
Write and share content in a way that meets standards set by the business in terms of quality, consistency, legal accuracy and IPSO compliance
Maintain a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code
Ensure the appropriate and responsible use of social media in line with Reach Plc policies and strategic goals
Maintain the highest personal standards of professionalism and integrity at all times within the framework of current legislation and Reach Plc’s editorial and company policies
The Ideal Candidate
A Reach Plc or equivalent journalist qualification or working towards.
Digital storytelling ability and social media prowess
Excellent writing skills
Good knowledge of digital skills including some experience of using web publishing systems, SEO and social media
First-class organisational skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
Ability to use and apply learning through digital analytics
Entry-level understanding of SEO and trends to know what content people need
Adaptable, creative, flexible with lots of flair
A positive, can-do attitude
Ability to work well as part of a team
Ability to work quickly and effectively under deadline pressure
Excellent attention to detail
Self-motivated, highly organised and able to take instruction as well as manage own workload efficiently
Up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code
