The coordination of overall delivery of a number of those projects from inception through to energisation, commissioning, and ongoing operation and the provision of supporting AutoCAD works.The AutoCAD Technician / Project Coordinator will work as part of a team of Engineers and Project Managers and the responsibilities of each element of the role have been separately laid out below.Under the Project Coordinator element of the role you will be responsible for various projects and responding to queries and liaising between internal departments. The role will be supporting the new BESS workstream, helping to build processes and coordinating relevant elements to ensure works can proceed. Building good relationships with the internal and external stakeholders, and dealing with multiple contractors, dealing with any queries and issues directly. Handling queries from external and internal customers, resolving any issues promptly and effectively. The role also involves regular reporting, maintaining databases, finance, and SLA reporting. The role will involve administrative duties to support the rollout of the new CaRe BESS projects.Under the AutoCAD Technician element of the role you will perform a variety of design/drafting activities as part of the BESS Development works and in supporting the greater BESS project teams.The work is predominantly based around the Renewable development market so will require the drafting, importing and modification of the Renewable plants, utility and building layouts into multi-layered drawings to be shared with the internal and external design teams to enable the design, costing and construction of development projects.Whilst the majority of the CAD technicians work will be based on 2D design there will be the occasional need for 3D design.The CAD Technician will have a sound understanding of BIM (Building Information Modelling) due to its increasing use as a process for the generation and management of digital representations of both physical and functional characteristics of places. BIM files will be extracted, exchanged or networked to support decision-making regarding buildings or other built assets, with our utilities input being extremely important to the rest of the project design team.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProject CoordinatorReview reports and updates from various stakeholders.Provide daily updates to Project Managers on specific projects when requiredPrioritise work based on contractual agreements.Liaise with a variety of contractorsAssist with financial costs on BESS projectsIdentify any issues and raise to Line Manager.Provide support to all PM’s and sub-contractorsMaintain spreadsheets and any relevant systems.Data entry and maintenance of project databases / spreadsheets.Ensure departmental targets are hit by reviewing and signing off reports in a timely manner.Liaise with SMS internal Project ManagersLiaise with other colleagues in the department to ensure optimum service delivery.Suggest any changes required to improve the qualityPrepare reports as requested by management.Administrative duties to support the BESS projectsHandling of ad-hoc queries from contractors, customers, and other teams.Attend conference calls as required, with all updates needed.Any other duties as required by the Line ManagerCAD TechnicianPrepare dimensional drawings, installation drawings and more complex drawings as required.Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes in collaboration with the client design team and the SMS project team.Review drawings, plans, specifications and other customer documentation as required and advise the Project Engineer of any potential clashes or opportunities for alternative solutions.Ensure consistent documentation of project files.Work with the SMS ES engineering to ensure all drawings issued to customers meet and exceed their requirements.Serve as an information source for changes in working methods, technologies and applications to ensure we are always informed of improvements in CAD and related facilities.Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation for future reference.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of third-party items and services data base used on projects. Reviewing and modifying information in conjunction with the SMS ES engineering team. Make data available to Project Coordinators and Engineers as required.In conjunction with other SMS CAD technicians, maintain filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings.Other duties as required relating to CAD database maintenance etc.Attend design progress meetings with client as required.Acknowledge the importance of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality information, ensuring compliance with safe working practices and appropriate use of risk assessments.Maintain good working knowledge of relevant SHEQ Legislation, Technical Standards, IET Regulations (BS7671), Utility Policies and Procedures, Distribution Safety Codes etc.Conduct oneself and portray oneself in a professional manner and demonstrate a positive image when representing SMS.Follow SMS policies and procedures in the preparation and completion of projects assigned by the project team.Embrace a culture of ‘Continuous Improvement’, together with the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality systems employed by SMS.EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/MEMBERSHIPS –Whilst it is widely acknowledged in the construction industry that formal CAD qualifications are not always necessary, however, experience is key where no CAD qualifications exist.The following qualifications are essential: GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths, Science and English.Recognised course / qualification in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.)The following qualifications are desirable: A higher BTEC (level 5 or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.A City & Guilds certificate Computer Aided Design (Level 3 or equivalent).SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEAll candidates should be able to offer a portfolio of drawings, suitably redacted to ensure anonymity for commercial purposes but should show the candidates initials as evidence of their own work.The following skills are essential: A thorough working knowledge of AutoDesk AutoCAD 2D/3D (or similar draughting software).Experience of report writing and presentation of information.OrganisationReporting using relevant systems/databasesTime ManagementCommunication, written and verbalTechnical Knowledge to offer solutionsUsing own initiativeQuality FocusThe following skills are desirable: Experience in the preparation of planning drawings.Knowledge of the Electricity, Telecoms, Gas and Water Utilities Industries.Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, Regulations and Approved Codes of Practice.Basic knowledge of New Roads and Street Works Act, Traffic Management Act and associated Codes of Practice.Knowledge of utility industry Engineering Standards and Recommendations.PERSONAL ATTRIBUTESThe following attributes are essential: A team player.Manages own workload effectively, but not nervous to request assistance.Demonstrable approach to self-developmentResilient and responsive to change.Experience in energy industry or similarExperience of working in a teamExperience of working under pressure and delivery deadlinesHealth, Safety & EnvironmentAll employeesComply with all
