We’re recruiting for several Business Analysts here at MoJ Digital & Technology, to be part of our warm and collaborative Justice Services team.
The Role
Business Analysts play a vital role in our delivery teams, ensuring we build products and services which meet the needs of our users and the business.
BAs in MoJ are experts in their field, providing high quality analysis which influences decisions, challenges thinking and solves problems.
Using a range of methods and tools, BAs:
Ensure outcomes are aligned with service vision and business strategy by contributing to the link between current and future business models
Challenge constructively and act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose.
Facilitate collaboration with business stakeholders to support design, build and delivery to meet the user needs.
A business analyst has a good strategic understanding of their area and takes on small to medium sized projects. They are an active member of their community of practice . They have excellent interpersonal skills, and are experienced in working with a diverse range of stakeholders, who may be vulnerable or working in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Use business analysis tools and principles to identify and analyse business and user needs related to all aspects of the product or service and define acceptance criteria for development work
Contribute to the definition of precise problems for investigation
Collaborate with senior business analysts to define success metrics and mechanisms for monitoring data through the life cycles of services
Contribute to the definition and prioritisation of user stories
Manage cost-benefit analysis across the product lifecycle and support the tracking of benefits to underpin the business case
Support business process re-engineering where applicable and write and edit the relevant documentation of processes.
Produce data models and flow diagrams to illustrate ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business processes.
Work with user researchers, service designers and technical architects to develop maps of relevant problem spaces
Collaborate with service teams to formulate hypotheses to test in service design phases.
Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to enable teams to delivery high quality solutions which meet business and user needs
Proactively ensures analysis and insights are being used to challenge thinking, influence decisions and solve problems
Contribute to the wider Business Analyst community

You can help teams to manage and visualise outcomes, prioritise work and work to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), print and scope.
Business analysis – You can apply structured approaches to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex business problems and opportunities. This includes analysing business goals, objectives, functions and processes, using relevant information and underlying data to support the definition of requirements. You conduct options analysis, assess feasibility and operational impact, quantify potential business benefits and contribute to business case development. You use business analysis methods and techniques to ensure proposed solutions align with business goals and objectives. You work with limited direction to complete tasks and define outputs linked to the project.
Business improvement process – You work with limited direction to identify opportunities and explore where and how changes can be made to perform and improve business activities within a defined project. You may support the implementation of proposed business improvements.
Requirements definition & management – You are able to identify, analyse, challenge and validate business and user requirements. You work under limited supervision to manage and facilitate prioritising requirements. You use appropriate requirements management lifecycle methods to deliver tasks and outputs related to the project.
Stakeholder relationship management – You know how to identify, analyse, manage and monitor relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders. You work under limited supervision to communicate with stakeholders clearly and regularly, clarifying mutual needs and commitments through consultation and consideration of impacts while focusing on user and business needs.
Business modelling – You can model various elements of the business with limited direction. You understand the impact of potential changes and how business processes, systems, structures, data and roles and responsibilities interact with one another.
Methods and tools – You select and use the most appropriate tools and techniques to support planning, analysis, development, testing, implementation and improvement of systems and services within a project.
