What you will do:
In this position you will be part of a highly talented, award-winning Silicon Valley team focused on developing cutting edge artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision-based medical technologies for the operating room and hospitals. The Stryker AI team comprises industry visionaries, innovators and inventors dedicated to developing technologies that change the way things are done in the operating room, and you can be one of them. Be part of the team that brought one of the first AI-driven medical device to the operating room – the Triton blood loss app – and spawned an entirely new type of AI-enabled patient care. We have many new innovations in the works that need skilled, creative, and inventive people to make them a reality.
The clinical engineer is a champion of the needs of patients and providers and is responsible for validation and verification testing to support new products or product features. The CE also executes clinical studies and human factors/usability studies to support clinical value propositions for new products under the direction of the CE manager. As a champion for user needs and engineering design, the CE monitors clinical usage of products in the field to identify new design inputs through post-market surveillance efforts. Additional responsibilities include experimental design and large data collection/management in support of R&D efforts for new products or projects.
Location: The workplace is in Menlo Park, California. While the position allows virtual remote work options, the candidate must be within reasonable driving distance of the office for periodic in-office workdays.
Responsibilities:
Work as part of a team using Agile development methods in a fast-paced environment.
Execute verification and validation studies and complete corresponding test report documentation.
Execute clinical and usability studies following good clinical practices and established protocols.
Collect benchtop R&D data for new products or projects.
Manage large data repositories in a complete and accurate form following good documentation practices.
Work with customers and provide input in product development and improvement based on observed user needs.
Execute post-market surveillance of products to identify clinical needs, ensure proper device use and risk mitigation.
Investigate customer complaints and complete report following medical device document control processes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and system quality requirements

What you Need:
Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years of experience, preferably in the biomedical engineering or biological sciences.
Strong communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team across multiple disciplines including regulatory, quality, marketing, algorithm science, software and mechanical engineering.
Ability to meet project timelines and deliver project objectives.
Preferred skills and experience:
Experience developing software using ISO 13485 quality practices is a plus.
Experience in medical device software development practices is a plus.
Experience in a technical leadership position is a plus.
Experience working with surgeons and other healthcare providers in a hospital setting is a plus.
Experience with clinical study and usability study design is a plus.
Familiarity with 21 CFR 820, iOS HIG, ANSI/AAMI/IEC 62366 and ANSI/AAMI HE75 is a plus.
