The Role
We are currently expanding our development team and are looking for someone with strong backend Clojure skills. You will be working on our web app and ensuring that we continue to deliver reliable and scalable solutions to our clients.
The app enables clients to interact with the data in their warehouse and schedule the ingestion of data from other sources and carry out transformations on it. We have an ambitious roadmap for 2021, which you will be helping us deliver.
About you
You will have strong backend development skills (extra points if you’re a polyglot), enjoy problem solving and accept that data is routinely ‘dirty’ and that things occasionally break and will need fixing.
We’re looking for someone who has experience of web application development and working with distributed systems. Data engineering and front end experience would also be beneficial.
The work can sometimes be fast paced, especially when we’re approaching the end of a sprint, so a cool head and a can-do attitude is a must.
Our Tech Stack
We love Clojure/Clojurescript and want to use it for everything, so almost all of our backend code is written in Clojure, and we use a mix of CLJS and JS on the front end. We’ve started selecting standard libraries for all of our code to ensure that everything has the same level of functionality and that we’re using the best libraries for the task.
We deploy everything in AWS and make use of a lot of their services, especially RDS, S3, Fargate, ECS and Cloudfront. Recently we started using AWS Code Deploy and Code Pipeline to automate the deployment of our main services and create a CI/CD pipeline, and this is being expanded to automate all deployments.
Github stores all our code repos and everyone in the company uses Slack. There are also various other online services for log management, monitoring and tickets.
