Our Commissioning teams use innovative and creative solutions to support the transformation of services for children’s and adults. We work across the Council and the wider market looking for ways to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people, in Wiltshire, to improve their outcomes and life chances.
At Wiltshire, we take work life balance seriously, therefore we actively encourage hybrid working to be part of the new ‘normal’ working pattern. This means being in Wiltshire 5 days a week is not essential.

About the role of Commissioning Manager
As a Commissioning Manager you will lead a team of Commissioners and be responsible for:
Leading a range of projects through governance processes
Strategy development and report writing
Contract development and delivery
Co-designing and co-producing contractual solutions
Contract management of a wide range of providers
Leading on stakeholder engagement and consultation
This is a critical role within the commissioning team where you will be one of two Commissioning Managers. You will be responsible for multi-million-pound contracts with numerous providers and organisations, and creating services that can transform the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents.

If you are working in the Adult Care or Whole Life (Specialist services) team, there may be a need for you to visit CQC registered premises, therefore you will be required to be double vaccinated against COVID-19
About the teams and about you
Whole Life Commissioning
The Whole Life team commissions support services for adults of working age who may present with mental health needs, learning disability (with or without dementia), autistic spectrum condition, physical or sensory needs, social, emotional and behavioural needs, speech, language and communication needs.
We also support young adults (16-25) to enable a smooth transition in preparation for adulthood.
Families and Children’s
In the Families and Children’s Commissioning team we work with colleagues across Education and Skills, Children’s social care teams as well as with our partners; Clinical Commissioning Group, The Wiltshire Parent Carer Council, and a wide range of service providers to commission services from 0 to 25 year olds. We are responsible for ensuring there are sufficient Early Years childcare places, and social care placements for all of the children and young people of Wiltshire.
About you
You will bring with you knowledge and experience of Commissioning services as well as a customer focused and drive focus on ensuring the residents of Wiltshire have the right services at the right time, catering to their needs
Experience of leading a team, and of successfully delivering a range of projects, and contract management is essential. You must be able to work within a diverse and challenging role, working across a range of different areas at one time.
Stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills are important as well as proven experience of analysing information, producing strategies.
