Excellent Benefits.Location: Maricopa Association of Governments, downtown Phoenix, Arizona.The PositionThe Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) is seeking an experienced and talented Communication Project Manager. Major duties include assisting the Communication Director with the development and implementation of strategic communication initiatives for the agency.The successful candidate must have strong writing and oral communication skills with proven experience conducting successful public relations, marketing, branding, and/or other communication campaigns across all platforms, including digital/social media, traditional media, video, community engagement and other communication tactics. The candidate will have knowledge of communication/public relations best practices that build mutually beneficial relationships and drive awareness and engagement.The ideal candidate for this position is a communication professional and curious learner who thrives at a mission-driven organization. The successful candidate will perform work under the supervision of the Communication Director.It is recommended that the candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years in a communication role. Salary is competitive and dependent upon experience, plus an excellent benefits package and state retirement program.The CandidateThe ideal candidate will have the following knowledge and skills or ability to do the following:Experience in developing strategic communication initiatives across a variety of communication platforms.Ability to write, proofread and edit communication materials and digital content, utilizing knowledge of Associated Press writing style.Strong oral presentation skills.Experience in using metrics/analytics to inform planning and provide data-driven insights to achieve Return on Investment (ROI)Experience with successful social media outreach.Ability to plan and conduct public forums, press conferences, and special events.Ability to become familiar with MAG programs and projects and serve as an information source to the public and media.Assist in the oversight of video production, including scriptwriting, production management, and managing video services contracts.Respond to public and media inquiries in a timely manner and serve as a spokesperson for the agency.Provide relevant and effective communication support to the agency and its members.Special projects as assigned.Experience and EducationMust be at least 18 years of age.Must have a valid driver’s license ID.Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, or related field required.Computer skills necessary.
