Description : Communications Manager – LeedsWelcome to TRU East:The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) aims to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds.The aim of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats, and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.The Communications Manager for the TRU East Alliance is appointed by the Business Improvement Manger and is responsible providing regular and professional TRU East communications with a proactive and positive tone.The role also provides a focused communications service to the Alliance Management Team (AMT) and researches and writes all communications with a view of delivering positive internal and external copy.What you will be doingEnsure that appropriate alliancing behaviours and ‘best for project’ approaches are adopted at all times, leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery of the Programme to the benefit of all Alliance Members.Ensuring the internal communications strategy is updated annually to reflect the project milestones and all relevant Alliance objectives.Producing regular internal communications, formatting on SharePoint, and distributing to the wider team.Regularly updating site-based communications app with relevant content.Manage external communication platforms such as LinkedIn and ensure they are updated regularly.Work closely with internal departments across all levels, to create high quality, clear, persuasive, and original content.Liaise with communications teams within participant organisations and across the wider TRU project.Work with relevant key Alliance colleagues to plan and promote events (e.g. Team Building, Team Briefs, Alliance Building).Engage with and manage all stakeholder requirements.Ensure swift responses to all team requests received.Maintain a searchable database of project information for all work undertaken across the Alliance.Creating, formatting, and distributing surveys on behalf of the Alliance and ensuring:The results are collated and reviewed by the management team in a timely fashion.The management team create responses / action plans that are communicated to the wider Alliance team.Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the needs of the project and the wider TRU East programme.Who we are looking forEducated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience.Ability to write about complicated and technical issues in plain English.2+ years’ experience in a similar role.Experience of using and managing external communication platforms such as LinkedIn.Previous experience of providing Communications support in a rail or engineering environment would be desirable.Personal resilience and ability to respond positively to pressure.High level communication and interpersonal skills.Initiative and proactivity.Relationship building.Accurate attention to detail.Technical and professional expertise.Personal and professional credibility.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Integrity and diplomacy.About MurphyCharity is at the heart of Murphy values; you will receive 2 days leave per year to donate your time to a charity of your choosing.
