The Community Team is part of the wider British Land Sustainability network which supports and guides the business to deliver on its new and ambitious 2030 Sustainability Strategy objectives. The team is seeking a new member to fulfil a key support role that will be essential in delivering and communicating progress on elements of the 2030 Community Strategy and the British Land 2030 Sustainability Strategy.
The Role
An exciting and autonomous role for a highly personable and driven individual to maintain, strengthen and evolve the community programme at Paddington Central.
Deliver the community programme in support of the Paddington Central business plan to support a diverse and vibrant office-led lifestyle campus, whilst connecting customers with the wider community to maximise site impact and develop the service as a USP for Paddington Central customers.
Key Responsibilities
Connect customers with the wider community as part of the Paddington Central service.
Develop, embed and deliver the Paddington Central community programme as part of a ‘plug and play’ service to campus customers.
Find, develop, manage and maintain external relationships with local stakeholders to deliver British Land’s Local Charter:
Connect with local communities
Support educational initiatives for local people
Support training and jobs
Support local businesses
Enhance the wellbeing and enjoyment of the site.
Continue to integrate the community programme into site activity to become ‘business as usual’.
Develop and manage occupier and supply chain community networks and champions.
Support service partners’ involvement in and lead on community activity, including recruiting and managing apprentices.
Contribute to the Paddington Central campus app and customer Forums in support of customer engagement and the site community strategy.
Execute, monitor, review and report on the site community strategy, supporting site and customer priorities as per the Local Charter and Paddington Central business plan.
Undertake reporting on all activity as per British Land systems and requirements.
Create and implement a communication strategy to publicise key programme messages and achievements both internally and externally using all available media, aligned with wider site activity and goals.
Work in close partnership with the onsite Events, Communications and Marketing teams on communication and promotion of strategic community messaging.
Liaise with the British Land and site teams to ensure good channels of communication.
Facilitate relationships and programmes between the local community, customers and the onsite team.
Develop, manage and keep teams informed of external relationships with key local stakeholders.
Liaise with and represent the site to key local stakeholder groups such as local schools, community groups, businesses.
Be the face of the campus in the local community.
Be a known first point of on-site contact for the local community.
Promote the use and reputation of Paddington Central as an inclusive, diverse campus.
Showcase the campus as a site to work in and visit
Co-ordinate community-facing activities including events, exhibitions and projects.
Undertake occasional community events out of hours on behalf of the onsite teams and British Land.
Co-ordination of all relevant community facing activities including events, exhibitions and projects.
Manage and promote any on-site initiatives to the benefit of customers and the local community.
Manage staff volunteering initiatives
Requirements
Understanding/experience of working with both corporate organisations and the voluntary sector
Community project experience
Ability to build relationships and communicate with diverse and multiple stakeholders
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
Project and event management experience
A familiarity with Westminster City Council and Paddington Central area
