The global communication team’s mission is to drive business performance and a world-class culture through communication that inspires, engages, educates, and connects Mastercard employees, customers, partners and shareholders. We are customer-centric, data-driven and creative-minded.
The director of internal communications will support the employee communications initiatives for the Cyber & Intelligence business unit. Responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of integrated communications activities, including employee communications, content creation, issues and project management. The ideal candidate should have solid internal communications experience and a passion for storytelling.
This individual will work with a team of high-performing individuals to look holistically at where and how the company shows up. This individual will work with a high-performing team to connect the dots between the day-to-day products and solutions, thought leadership and the greater promise of Mastercard’s ability to do well and do good.
Responsibilities:
Build, protect and enhance Mastercard’s reputation through clear and impactful proactive employee communications in support of Mastercard’s core themes.
Develop a deep understanding of the Cyber & Intelligence business activities and find innovative and differentiated ways to amplify them through internal communications programs.
Develop strong stakeholder relationships within the business and collaborate with these stakeholders to develop and influence story ideas.
Work closely with other external and internal-facing teams in Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, etc. to ensure seamless alignment of messaging.
Manage and mitigate arising issues, by building strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure early warning and sharing of information.
Proactively seek out and identify internal story opportunities — as well as situations that could adversely impact Mastercard’s reputation— and coordinate strategies and tactics to promote and protect the integrity of the company.
Create content for intranet news stories, email communications, town halls, videos, etc., in support of the Cyber & Intelligence business unit initiatives.
Partner with the People & Capability team to drive initiatives throughout the business unit.

Ability to navigate the complexities of Mastercard with speed and sensitivity, both within the Communications function globally and among all other Functions and Businesses
Deep understanding of internal communications strategies and methodologies.
Strong ability to translate technical concepts into compelling stories.
Calm under pressure and solution focused when unforeseen circumstances arise.
Able to move projects forward and against tight deadlines.
Ability to build relationships with colleagues and executives around the world.
Comfortable working with and advising senior executives on communications content strategy.
Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, matrixed environment to meet tight deadlines.
Experience with communications tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, video editing, SalesForce Marketing Cloud, or similar).
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Proactive – you see “around the corner” and take initiative to add value to projects.
Excellent judgment, interpersonal and relationship building skills
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university
COVID-19 Considerations
