Description : Overview
The Director will be accountable for all technical phases of the application development cycle. Will be assigned a portfolio of applications and data running on multiple platforms and architecture. Responsible for successful planning and development, execution and delivery of all assigned initiatives. Will provide support to maintain and enhance existing applications that are critical to Canon Solutions America. Will partner with the Sr. Directors of Business Process Reengineering to continuously review, evaluate, and test existing Canon Solutions America business processes for efficiency and relevancy to our goals, mission and business strategy. In addition, the Director must play a pivotal role in deriving solutions that further enhance, simplify and streamline our current business processes for the purpose of realizing more operational efficiency and financial profitability. The Director must be effective in the role of a hands-on chief technical architect of all Canon Solutions America applications and supporting infrastructure. Will partner with IT Senior Management to develop and support a technical road map for developing all new application initiatives and to either migrate to new technology platforms or retire existing platforms.
Responsibilities
Combined hands-on architect and visionary leader who will not only provide solutions but also lead, mentor, and guide the entire technical team to success.Has full management responsibility for a combined team of technical manager(s), technical architect(s), database administrator(s), application developers, analyst(s), and/or front-end designers.Provides leadership, vision and direction for assigned portfolio of initiatives/applications to ensure it will contribute to CSA achieving its operational and financial objectives.Partners with Business Process Reengineering leadership to develop and foster trusting and collaborative relationships with all CSA business leaders.
Learns and evaluates new technology trends and introduces new technology platform approaches in order to increase technical team’s productivity and resulting in better ROI for business leaders from their technology investments.Develops KPIs to not only measure technical team productivity but also partner with CSA Business Process Reengineering and business operations leadership to measure through actual returns on implemented initiatives.Evaluates and modifies, as needed, the direction and approach of the technical team in order to achieve higher technical team performance based upon the results of KPIs.Oversees development of processes and tools in conjunction with the infrastructure team in order to meet Canon Solutions America’s audit and compliance, and security requirement. Partners with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure that the organization’s application products are effectively secured and that large risks are mitigated.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 12 years of related experience.Has in-depth knowledge of software application development methodologies and processes.Has strong ability to lead and motivate teams by example: Use hands-on approach.Openness to, and the ability to deal with, rapid change in business processes, priorities, and needs.Has strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key business and technical concepts, in addition to the ability to simplify and effectively communicate those concepts to the technical team and senior management.Able to track and update on progress of all new and existing initiatives in technical and business terms.Able to collaborate, build relationships and influence individuals at all levels in a matrix-management environment. Comfortable to operate in a flat organizational structure.
Has solid understanding of strategic business objectives, drive all efforts toward realizing those objectives.Worked in .Net and/or Java JSP environments. Capable of managing a mix of consultants and permanent staff to achieve objectives in both environments.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, finance, business management or a related field. Master’s preferred.Minimum of 4 years of experience managing a diverse team of technical and managerial staff.Experience transitioning teams from traditional to agile development methodologies is preferred.
