The Opportunity
The Director of Marketing and Sales is accountable for overseeing demand generation, pre-sales excellence and efficient and effective deployment of sales for the organization. They are accountable for developing the strategic and tactically sales plans based on Gen’s goals to enable sales growth and increase customer count and satisfaction and working with revenue enablement to continuously improve the revenue system and reduce customer acquisition cost.
They will lead business and market development to drive new business sales growth, contribute to market research. Appointed to co-create a high performance culture of individual and shared success, enabled through the curation and enablement of a customer centric, product focused learning and growth programme for marketing and sales executive.
Your Responsibilities
• Strategically plan and Operational Execute – You’ll work with strategy, product, finance amongst others to develop programmes, plans and go to market strategies which ensure that predictability of revenue improves, growth becomes inevitable and costs of capture reduce as we scale. Not content with planning, you’re a doer, organizing and managing resources to support in the realisation of profitable revenue. Building out our marketing and sales team through recruitment, training, coaching and mentoring.
• Listen to our customers – You’ll build and maintain market and customer insights to ensure we have a clear understanding and evolving picture of our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), you’ll share and communicate this across the business supporting others in their work. You’ll reflect, identifying where improvements can be made based on feedback to enhance customer journey’s and experience. Ultimately you’ll improve customer satisfaction by anticipating customer needs and support how the business and its product teams react to this.
• Lead and Inspire – Passionate about the performance and success of others. You’ll find ways to integrate, collaborate virtually and face to face that support the creation of high performance revenue generating teams. You’ll lead by example with behaviours that show you are highly accountable for your own success and the impact that others can make. When things are going right, you’ll have used data to anticipate and course correct. Taking action as necessary. You’ll focus on achieving and enabling success in others developing product sales capability amongst our sales directors and sales executives and wider business.
• Enhance the customer journey – Ensure that our customers and markets understand Gen and how we can solve their problems, recognizing Gen as the go-to provider of sustainability focused asset management software. So that when they are ready, they’ll come to us, and we’ll be prepared to engage multiple personas from their buying committee. When they do you’ll have helped shape a frictionless experience for prospective customers through high quality, relevant and targeted thought leadership, product marketing and seamless online experiences. You’ll also ensure our people understand our story with clear internal communications.
• Brilliant at the basics – You’ll be accountable for ensuring that across the board we take a structured and systematic approach to engaging the market and sales development. Giving the business and our stakeholders the confidence that demand is understood, and putting in place the right skills and capacity to close with success
What You Bring
We’ll be looking for someone is a proven leader with in-depth industry experience and a true passion for the technology, the built environment and sustainability. You must have exceptional leadership skills, record of building high performance teams who have delivered double digit Year on Year growth and demonstrate how you role model customer centricity in building and maintaining advantageous relationship with internal and external customers. Proactive communication skills that encourages courageous conversations are a must.
Must-haves
We are looking for someone who possesses:
• 10+ years in SaaS focused software sales and marketing
• MBA or equivalent experience
• Extensive Sales experience
• Marketing experience
• Product Development and Deployment Experience
• Experience with hiring and building a sales team.
• Experience of coaching and mentoring marketers and sales executives
Nice-to haves:
• Knowledge of Asset Management
• Relevant sector; Water, Rail, Energy, Buildings and Road experience
