As a leader in Materials Integrity, you will focus on materials and color quality initiatives across the enterprise and throughout NIKE’s manufacturing network. You’ll become part of a dynamic team of material and color experts working together cross-functionally to build, drive, and govern the strategic direction and foundational framework of material & color quality for Nike. You will play an essential role in fostering a culture of quality aimed to prevent, identify, and resolve manufacturing quality failures and target delivering ‘right first time’ materials for NIKE products.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Performance Standards Director to lead material quality standards management and drive operational strategies for the Materials Integrity Standards team and governance model across FTW, APP, ACC and Nike Supplier base.
This role will create specifications and standards to measure and validate performance of materials throughout development and manufacturing and testing and approval of NIKE materials for commercial use. The position is responsible for setting standards and ensuring consistency across manufacturing, test validation, and end-use application. The Performance Standards Director will resolve key performance indicators for the evaluation of material performance against material specs and production standards in production and lab testing scenarios. Manage tools, metrics and reporting used in determining vendor capabilities, performance, and improvement needs. Partner with Nike Tech teams and supplier quality leadership teams to drive digital quality management system integration and digital standard solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In this is role you will ensure product standards alignment with strategic source plan. You’ll also ensure product standards and expectations are communicated/translated accurately to factory development and manufacturing functions. Utilize influence and functional expertise to effectively lead product discussions and drive standardization initiatives. Reinforce strategic priorities to ensure product excellence is achieved through right-first-time material execution and on-time delivery.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science, Textile Technology, Textile/Materials Engineering, Textile Management, Industrial Engineering, Apparel & Textile Design, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in Apparel or Footwear Manufacturing, Product Development, Technical/Product Design, Product Management or related field.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and provide management direction and support
Proven ability to conduct technical product design and statistical evaluations
Problem-structuring and strategic problem-solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects at once
Strategic, enterprise-thinker, collaborative, and intuitive
Special Skills:
Product development and manufacturing knowledge
Provides factory direction to implement a vision and solve product issues
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationship across Product Creation and Global Supply Chain/Sourcing & Manufacturing functions and Partners
Manufacturing operations expertise; design, development, and production
Experience developing pivotal initiatives, timelines and roadmaps (3 year product strategy)
Systems/software knowledge (SAP, PDM, PPS, Excel, PPT, Tableau, Smartsheets)
