The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Clinical Operations Director. The incumbent:
Directs overall strategy and clinical delivery of all the hospital based outpatient clinics within the Department of Medicine.
Will analyze, develop, and execute resource management modeling, inclusive of operational, financial, and administrative models.
Serves as conduit for communications and executions between hospital leadership and the department, to ensure system alignment and efficient progression of a united ambulatory strategy.
Assumes responsibility for continuously increasing clinical operations and implementing systems that enhance the patient experience, and staff and physician satisfaction.
Identifies resource needs for implementation of operational plans and develops a resource tracking process that includes the organization of all care delivery models used in DOM hospital-based outpatient clinics.
Evaluates current communication channels, and designs and develops a comprehensive patient centered telephone call strategy.
Creates and implements benchmark times for visits, wait times, answering phone calls, and explaining delays.
Develops and implements clinic flow parameters, including benchmarks and dashboards for patient flow through their visits, and processes for proactively managing patient wait times and delays.
Creates and implements non-physician provider care delivery models, based on acuity and complexity, inclusive of expectations and metrics.
Reviews clinic staffing models to ensure productivity and increase patient flow volume.
Works with managers to resolve patient and family issues, with faculty involvement.
Maintains and creates policies and procedures in conjunction with leadership, and maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.
Provides senior management with necessary updates on progress and changes in scope, schedule, and resources.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Oversees Oncology Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program
Advance Practice (hospital based) Provider oversight to ARNPS across the main campus and satellites
High Risk Clinic (Cancer Prevention programs)
Oversight over APP supervisor(s) to the Research and Department APPs.
Serves as a mentor and role model to all APPs, thus facilitating the development from novice to expert.
Serves as a liaison and advocate alongside the APP supervisor(s), hospital and satellite leadership, department heads, and collaborating physicians.
Assist APP supervisor(s) in clinical integration upon hire and throughout time of employment of hospital-based APPs.
Identifies and develops with APP Supervisor(s) educational and learning experiences to meet the needs of APPs.
Integrates and informs APP of current knowledge of professional issues, trends in health care and technological advances into APPs scope of practice.
Identifies opportunities and challenges to promote full scope of practice in the advance practice model.
Ensures and coordinates standardization of advanced practice processes between patient care services and collaborative teams with the APP supervisor(s).
Ensures compliance with regulatory and maintains credentialing, competencies, and professional standards for all APPs.
Improve the clinical operations and patient experience by coordinating efforts to deliver a plan of care that
addresses the medical, surgical, emotional, physical, educational, short and long-term needs of individual and
family’s needs in a setting of expertise, warmth and compassion.
Monitor national “best practices” and integrate into current practice.
Examine operational gaps and formulate a plan to close the gaps by defining objectives, implement and track timelines, establish new program roll out to staff and patients while gauging anticipated outcomes and
evaluating process.
Works collaboratively with SCCC Executive Leadership to develop and implement clinic flow parameters, including benchmarks and dashboards for patient flow through their visits, and processes for proactively managing.
Draft Policies and Procedures for new initiatives as needed.
Provide senior management with necessary updates on progress and changes in scope, schedule, and resources in a timely manner.
Operates within budget guidelines under the supervision of Executive Leadership.
Development of high risk/prevention clinic(s)
Oversight of APP (s) that relates to the program
Provide continual QI and address gaps/barriers as the program is implemented.
Involve key stakeholders/leaders.
Maintain financial and patient satisfaction reports.
Ensures compliance with regulatory and maintains credentialing, competencies, and professional standards for all APPs and nurses in the clinic.
Regularly meets with staff to assure quality care and to address needs.
Assures educational needs of staff are being met.
Track metrics related to volume and provide feedback to Executive leadership when resources identified are needed.
Act as a liaison between physician leaders, public health SCC leaders, and cancer center leadership.
Involvement in outreach initiatives.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Master degree preferred

Qualifications
Graduate of Master in Science in Nursing with approved ARNP Curriculum or higher.
Florida Licensure as ARNP from Florida Board of Nursing.
Board Certification as ARNP from nationally accredited organization such as American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP).
Current Certification in BLS and ACLS, Medical Errors (HIV/AIDS & Domestic Violence done on initial certification)
Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Certification preferred if supervision over BMT program
CITI certification within three months of employment
