Description : We are looking for a new member of staff to join the Radiation Physics team. The post-holder will as part of the team provide support to the Clinical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine service.
The Radiation Physics team provides scientific and technical support to all users of ionising radiation (including diagnostic x-ray equipment) within the Cornwall healthcare community. This includes quality assurance and acceptance testing of X-ray equipment and the provision of a radiation protection service. The section also provides technical support for the Nuclear Medicine Department, including the provision of the non-imaging Nuclear Medicine service.
The duties of the post-holder will include:
Ordering and disposal of radioactive isotopes to ensure smooth running of patient scans, routine testing of X-ray equipment & Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras, assisting with the staff radiation monitoring badge service, checking and calibration of radiation monitoring equipment. The post holder will also support patient dose reviews and quality improvement programs.
Depending on the post-holder’s development and desire there may also be opportunities in future to be trained in other aspects of the physics team’s work and to participate in a Healthcare Science Practitioner Apprenticeship in Medical Physics Technology.
