Description : Housing Support Worker Overview As a Housing Support Worker you will be providing housing related support to older people in Caerphilly Borough. Support will be person centred, focussing on setting realistic goals and ensuring appropriate outcomes.​Role Responsibilities: · Supporting service users with housing issues ​· Provide flexible high quality and effective short-term person-centred housing related floating support and advice to clients and vulnerable people across all tenures and ages to help them develop and maintain the skills and confidence required to live as independently as possible within their own homes.· Encourage client engagement and involvement within communities, to assist in reducing loneliness and isolation.· Promote and enable the core principles and wider remit of Housing Related Support as set out in the Gwent Supporting People Allowable Activities Guidance.· Working alongside service users to create person centered support plans with realistic goals​· Logging clear and concise case notes on IT systems (Charity Log) ensuring these are up to date​· Compiling detailed records to ensure accurate statistics can be created​· Providing quality support to service users in their home, office or via telephone, Teams, Zoom or WhatsApp as directed by the service user​· Having an understanding of the housing needs of older people and those at risk of or in crisis situations​· Supporting service users through;​· Ensuring financial maximization ​· Developing their practical skills​· Maintaining payments​· Promoting economic progress​· Improving resilience​· Accessing appropriate services and accommodation​· Signposting complimentary services in the area· Supporting vulnerable people to develop or maintain the skills to live independently· To understand GDPR fully· To be willing to work across the service’s operational areas· To be willing to undertake ongoing relevant training both in person and online· To form an active part of the team, participating in team meetings and attending regular supervisions and appraisals.· To ensure that safeguarding of service users is a key priority and take any necessary internal and external procedures and action· Any other duties as requested by a line managerExperience: · Experience in a similar role or a qualification in a relevant discipline or a willingness to undertake such a qualification​· Previous experience of engaging with the older people​· Experience of the benefits system and the completion of benefit applications online and on paper​· Experience in and an understanding of maintaining records​Knowledge: · Full IT Literacy; the role will involve daily use of bespoke databases, online portals as well as outlook and Microsoft Office​· Knowledge of data protection – GDPR​· An understanding of the Housing related difficulties older people are facing​· Ability to follow routine administration procedures​Behaviour: · Willingness to undertake relevant training​· Good communication and interpersonal skills​Job Types: Part-time, PermanentPart-time hours: 20 per weekSalary: £8.00-£11.00 per hourBenefits:Additional leaveCompany pensionCycle to work schemeEmployee discountFlexible scheduleReferral programmeSick payWork from homeSchedule:Monday to Friday
