As a Humanities/Geography Teacher you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises children’s achievement and ability to develop.The post-holder will be expected to carry out other tasks/duties as directed by the Headteacher that are commensurate with the responsibilities of a teacher.Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.You will have QTS or willing to take on further training; English and Maths level 2. You will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, motivated by helping every child to reach their potential.About usWessex Lodge School comprises of three main sites: Wessex Lodge School, the main school where classroom-based activities take place; The Arc, which is mainly for the younger children and Triskele Farm, an alternative provision which is Care farm around 20 minutes’ drive from the main site. We have grown to support 40 students, aged 8-18.The majority of these students are day placements. Each student has individual needs based on developmental challenges, Social Emotional Mental Health difficulties or Autism. We support them using individual plans and the THRIVE approach.The established staff team come from a variety of previous occupations and have individual skills, which can be utilised, within this school.
