Description : Imperial College London’s Learning and Teaching Strategy, launched in June 2017, sets out to establish Imperial as a global leader in innovative, evidence-based education. Implementation of the Strategy is underpinned by significant investment in education which will support innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning methods across the College. As part of this strategy the Faculty of Engineering is undertaking a process of pedagogical transformation of its modules which are delivered on-campus in line with a faculty-wide curriculum review.
A key element of the Educational Technology (EdTech) team’s ambition is to become a leading Centre of Excellence in delivering digitally enhanced, online and blended learning programmes. This ambition includes supporting the development and innovation in digital educational technologies and pedagogies for online teaching.
The team works to established processes to design, build and innovate STEM focussed digital education experiences at pace. The role holder must have sufficient instructional design knowledge combined with experience of using project management techniques to support timely delivery of high quality digital learning content and assessments.

Duties and responsibilities
You will support a design delivery process, working with a digital designer, creating online content and assessments using the established VLE and ancillary technologies, collaboratively working with, and using subject matter provided by, academic staff. Throughout the process you will provide expert advice to staff on instructional best practise in the use of digital content and learning technology.
Essential requirements
The essential requirements for this role are:
Degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in a STEM discipline, with educational experience/knowledge; or equivalent professional experience and knowledge in learning technology, online learning or pedagogy.
Proven track record of supporting teaching, learning and assessment with technology, ideally in a University environment.
Significant experience in creating content and assessments using Blackboard or another VLE and their ancillary technologies (e.g. Panopto, Turnitin, Mobius), and in a mobile environment.
Experience of working with STEM content to design and develop teaching, learning and assessment materials and processes, in at least one of these areas :
Instructional/learning design.
Media production.
Traditional learning technologies (e.g. VLEs, lecture capture systems, online assessment/marking systems, specialist teaching tools for specific skills such as mathematics, statistics, programming).
Specialist knowledge of sound pedagogy-based teaching and assessment methods and techniques in STEM disciplines in higher education
Significant experience of creating digital assessments.
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and presentation skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise own work.
Excellent skills in the use of a number of technologies relating to teaching, learning and assessment. These may include, for example, Office 365, HTML, H5P, Wireframe tools, Scripting languages, Mentimeter, WordPress, Articulate, Photoshop, Premiere, LaTeX, Maple, MathML. We do not expect candidates to have experience in all of these!
