Job Summary
The Nat Geo Media Digital Ecosystem Team is responsible for the distribution and amplification of National Geographic’s award-winning content.
Working in close collaboration with Marketing and Technology, this team oversees Nat Geo’s websites, apps, and social media channels and is responsible for delivering products, experiences, and social content that inspire, inform, and engage consumers with our amazing digital storytelling.
The Digital Ecosystem Team’s objectives are to support NG Media’s KPIs —grow our addressable audience, grow our subscriber base, and increase profitability — by providing an experience that streamlines the path from strangers to friends, friends to subscribers, and subscribers into fans.
This role is responsible for coordinating all the projects that expand across lines of business, including but not limited to Technology, Marketing, International markets, and the National Geographic Society.
This person will report to the Director of Web and App, but its responsibilities expand to support the entire Digital Ecosystem team. The person’s major focus will be:
Leading the supervision and management of all technology projects from the business’ point of view, particularly projects that span across multiple technology teams.
Lead the development and oversee the management of a content calendar for all Nat Geo social media content, across platforms, in alignment with all internal and external stakeholders.
The final candidate will need to develop the processes and models for identifying and tracking all the steps and dependencies of each project, including negotiating timelines and deliverables with colleagues on higher positions. This person will also be accountable to report the progress of the projects to Sr. Leadership.
It is critical that the Project Manager has the professional presence and experience to lead by influence rather than control, and the Emotional Intelligence to obtain results from a diverse set of stakeholders that don’t report directly into Nat Geo’s Digital Ecosystem team.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and management of a content calendar for all social media content, across platforms, in alignment with Marketing, Brand, Editorial, and Disney Tentpole priorities.
Lead the coordination of multiple projects simultaneously across lines of business, including stakeholder management, establishing launch timelines, tracking the development of each project, identifying and solving dependencies, and managing the execution of deliverables.
Establish the governance model for each project, including Executive Sponsors, Core Team, Work-stream Leads, and Key Stakeholders.
Track progress throughout the duration of a project (from definition to launch and beyond) with a mindfulness toward dependencies and facilitate effective communication within and across teams.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in product management, or a similar role.
Capability to provide project planning and leadership skills, taking a concept and driving to implementation, with a focus on people, process, and service delivery.
Track record of collaborating with a large and varied group of cross-functional teams and partners to tackle ambiguous problems and make forward progress.
Strong ability to multi-task and context-switch with ease, in a fast-paced and ever-evolving organization multiple work streams and multiple projects.
Strong process orientation with solid organizational and multi-tasking skills
Adept at establishing trusting relationships with both internal and external partners.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals.
Proven track record of presenting to and influencing senior management.
Passion and commitment to diversity and inclusion inviting diverse perspectives, promoting and inclusive work environment.
