Description : A vacancy has arisen for a Workshop Auxiliary Driver based at Thorpe Wood Police Station, working as part of a team supporting the Fleet Workshop.
Main functions of the role is to support operational policing by undertaking the delivery and collection of vehicles to/from the workshop and dealerships. This will involve travelling to different sites within Cambridgeshire to transport spare parts for vehicles, and providing maintenance services such as changing tyres and starting cars to minimise vehicle downtime.
Key Responsibilities;
Working with minimum supervision, undertake ferrying of vehicles to/from workshops, dealerships, converters etc. Collection and delivery of vehicle spare parts to workshop to minimise vehicle downtime and therefore support operational Policing. Travel to Police Stations (where there are no vehicle workshop facilities) to start vehicles (with flat batteries etc.) Change wheels, fit tyres and balance wheels etc.
Undertake daily tasks on vehicles including checking fluid levels, tyre condition etc. Valet force vehicles (interior and exterior). Check vehicle log books for recorded defects and service mileage. Check vehicle for body damage and report any damage to the Fleet Department. Additionally, assist in maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
