Your team: You will work with our Publishing Delivery team within the Publishing Operations department. We are responsible in providing centralised, production and publishing support across all titles and platforms, servicing editorial, commercial and marketing production needs
Your role: The Publishing Delivery Coordinator is a multi-skilled role designed to support the News UK titles by providing professional, integrated and efficient publishing delivery services across print and digital platforms.You will be capable of working cooperatively with all business stakeholders and provides the interface between Editorial, Commercial, Marketing, Technology and Operations to accurately configure, coordinate and deliver newspaper and tablet publishing editions. You are responsible for the accurate placement of commercial space within defined guarantees to ensure protection of revenue and providing efficient and accurate routing and staging of files to the correct print site and publishing platform. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting the wider Publishing Planning team as required.
This role is based on a rotating shift pattern covering 365 days a year and working hours based within a 15:00 hrs to 02:30 hrs window, with some flexibility for occasional late/early cover subject to special events and business requirements. The role reports into the Publishing Delivery Managers.
Day to day you will:
Daily configuration of edition Methode Page Plans, EMS/Newsplan X, Karma/Softproofing, Newsway and any additional publishing systems for digital and newsprint products. Ensure plans are regularly updated throughout the planning and publishing cycle and communicated to the relevant parties including Editorial, Commercial, Marketing and Operations.
Provide the communications interface between Editorial, Commercial and Marketing for Commercial space negotiations and positioning within the Page Plans
Confirm all Commercial creative and content is accurately checked within the plans, in accordance with agreed procedures and guarantees
Work collaboratively with Advertising Operations, Operations Planning, Marketing and Editorial to resolve any issues regarding edition planning, book structure and ad placement
Provide ‘out of hours’ advertising operations continuity planning support, in accordance with agreed operating procedures and contractual guarantees
Ensure effective and efficient channels of communication both oral and written exist and are maintained between Publishing Delivery and Editorial, Commercial, Marketing, Manufacturing, Technology, print centres and other Publishing Operations departments regarding the planning and publishing processes.
Prepare reports in accordance with agreed procedures, including the Publishing Delivery Night Report, detailing file flow, production events, and technical issues to provide the business with an accurate summary of publishing performance.
Effectively and efficiently troubleshoot, triage, escalate and report issues throughout the production cycle including technical and planning issues, in accordance with agreed procedures.
Execute agreed contingency procedures in accordance with agreed procedures, to ensure business continuity
Provide support to the management team, other areas of Publishing Operations and cover as required for other team members.
Aligned to the Publishing Operations Strategy, Values and Principles, work collaboratively across the department to support a ‘one-team’ approach, development of a professional service culture and ‘can do’ approach, whilst displaying the values and behaviours expected from a professional publishing department
