Description : EQUANS are recruiting for a Regional Technical Manager to be based in Birmingham. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
The job holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of Technical services on construction and pre-construction activities. The role will be responsible for a team of technical staff and has a significant mentoring element to it. Compliance with the “Golden Rules” is essential to achieving the high standard of administration needed and good organisation skills are required. Also people management skills will be required to manage the flow of information and obtain timely decisions to inform designers or advice the production team and client. The scope of the role is as follows:
Manage budgets in accordance with the fee sheet, arrange payments on evision, raise Manual payment requests and approve payments.
Complete appointments with all consultants and manage the legal review process to achieve completed and signed appointments.
Manage the design programme to achieve information for procurement and production requirements and timescales. Produce and update an IRS.
Identify all utilities requirements on projects and arrange for budgets, quotes, payments and agreements to be put in place in a timely manner. Ensure co-ordinated service plans are completed prior to construction.
Arrange for all Section agreements to be in place to meet programme requirements. Make payments and obtain the agreement of legal matters as required.
Manage the Planning process including applications for full and outline planning, submission of NMA’s and clearance of conditions. Arrange for the payment of all planning fees.
Obtain building control, warranty and other third-party consultant services to achieve project success including appointments, payments and clearance of conditions.
Check and approve drawings and manage the viewpoint portal to achieve sign off of drawings by the required parties so that all information is at Construction status.
Assist the Project Manager in client management and in the preparation of information to obtain instructions. Manage the design change request process.
Manage the performance of staff and trainees including PDR’s personal development, discipline, reward and retention. Keep 1HR updated with all relevant staff records.
Manage the performance and output of consultants and sub-contract designers to achieve project success. Work with production teams to ensure design information is well thought out and easy to follow.
Ensure that the “Golden Rules” are followed consistently on all projects and that trackers and other control documents are updated regularly. Ensure all Design team meetings are documented by minutes of meetings.
Manage time so that it is used efficiently. Ensure that were possible resources are deployed logically to avoid exhaustion or failure.
Solve problems with innovative ideas and encourage creativity in achieving value engineering and efficient design.
Ensure that staff are trained with regular CPD events and one-to-one learning opportunities where possible.
Provide pre-construction support including site visits, writing of contractor’s proposals, fee sheets, technical assistance to the Estimating team and identification of risk and design solutions. Attend adjudications and client meetings and present on technical matters.

Who are we looking for?
Professional Qualification in relevant discipline
Previous experience working for a Main Contractor
Relevant Design and Construction experience working on New Build Residential developments.
Previous experience working on refurbishment is essential to the role including extensive knowledge of Fire and Building Regulations.
Ability to manage and grow a Technical Team to meet the requirements of the workload
