We are currently looking for an enthusiastic teacher for a primary special educational needs school in Birmingham. This is an Ofsted outstanding SEND School that caters for students with complex learning difficulties. You will be leading a mixed aged class, who have communication difficulties. We are ideally looking for someone that has an understanding of PECS and Makaton, but this is not essential. You will be supported by three experienced teaching assistants that are dedicated to ensuring all students receive the best possible education.
This role is due to start as soon as possible and will continue until July, with the potential of becoming permanent. This school is very well located with fantastic transport links. The environment has outstanding facilities, with a therapy pool on site. Due to the needs of the children within this environment, we are looking for someone that has previously supported individuals with autism.
The Role:
You will need to have strong communication skills and have experience with SEND
You will ideally be trained in Makaton and PECS, although this is not a necessity as the school can provide this training.
You will be working with very small class sizes, with a maximum of eight students within each class.

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
