Description : Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is seeking to expand and develop its existing successful Transport and Highways team within its Built Environment business. We are looking for a dynamic team player to lead transport modelling projects and to support the development of the business and the team.
Our workload is extremely varied covering a broad range of projects including large mixed-use developments, transport infrastructure schemes, wind farms, Electric Vehicles (EV) and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. Key private and public sector clients include organisations such as The Crown Estate, Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Homes England, National Grid, and a wide range of Local Authorities and private developers. We also work on a number of international projects in Europe, Asia and the Middle East for clients such as the World Bank and EBRD.
The workload of the team is diverse, including:
Preparation of Traffic Impact Studies, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Local Plans, Transport Strategies and Access Studies for development and regeneration projects
Transport modelling including developing strategic multi-modal, traffic and micro-simulation models
Real-time traffic management by PTV Optima
Preparation of Business Case studies and Environmental Statements
Air quality assessment, clean air zone, and EV (e.g., fleet management and charge point optimisation)
Data analytics and visualisation
R&D and innovation including machine learning, IoT and AI
Key Responsibilities
You will undertake work at the international, national, regional and local level, often as part of large multi-disciplinary project teams. You will play an important part in the continued growth of the team, identifying resource requirements and the pursuit of business opportunities with both existing and new clients.
Your key responsibilities include:
As a senior member of the team, you will be involved in the management of internal and external client relationships
You will work collaboratively with team members and other business disciplines
You will guide and review the work of less experienced staff, and support their career development
You will ensure that technical calculations and outputs are correct, robust and accurate. You will also need to deliver projects within the agreed timescale and budget
You will be responsible for leading or supporting the preparation of bids and fee proposals within the Transport & Highways team and as part of multi-disciplinary bid teams
You will produce technical reports and notes, and provide model evidence for clients and non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications:
In order to effectively carry out the key responsibilities the following minimum requirements will need to be demonstrated by candidates:
Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Engineering, Town Planning, Geography, or a related discipline
Management of small to medium-sized projects
Preparation of fee proposals and ability to undertake or apply yourself to business development activities
Knowledge of local junction modelling software packages (LinSig, Junctions9) and microsimulation (VISSIM)
Knowledge of strategic modelling packages such as Saturn/EMME/CUBE/VISUM/Aimsun is desirable but not essential
Programming skills in Python and C++ would be an advantage but not essential
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good report writing skills
