DoorDash believes that success begins with an amazing customer experience. The Research team quite literally makes room at the table for all of our audiences – Dashers, Merchants, and Customers – to influence product and company strategy. Together with our audiences, we seek insights that inspire the development of the most innovative and delightful experiences. The Research team is at an exciting stage – growing, but still early enough where you will be able to shape the team culture and process from the ground up while, at the same time, guiding the company to bigger and bolder new bets. Your scope will be broad and your autonomy will be high.
About the Role
The Research team is looking for experienced, senior research leads who will proactively drive customer insights that define business strategy in the following 5 areas:
Consumer Growth: The Product Growth team is on a mission to make DoorDash the go-to app for everyone. In this role you’ll lead research to help the team identify and define opportunities to grow, onboard, and engage our global customer base while taking our popular subscription product, DashPass, to the next level.
Teammate Experience: Our Customer Experience team seeks to prevent issues from happening on the platform, and, if necessary, to help recover when something does go wrong. This role will be our first ever research lead to work directly with all 3 audiences – Customers, Dashers, Merchants – to optimize and set the strategic vision for the 360 support experience at DoorDash.
New Verticals: We believe the consumer shopping experience will be very different within a decade. This role is for those passionate about defining what that 0-1 experience will look like. You will be able to impact a company’s strategy in new categories like groceries, convenience, retail, and more.
Ads & Merchant Experience: By partnering directly with our Merchants, DoorDash is committed to investing in local economies. Researchers on the Merchant Experience team seek to ensure we provide the best tools and products to help Merchants thrive and grow.
Dasher Experience: By joining the Logistics pod, you’ll help improve the experience of the millions of Dasher’s who earn on our platform throughout their entire lifecycle, from onboarding, scheduling, safety, and delivery to bike Dashing, earnings, and safety.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
Partner with product, design, analytics, and strategy leaders and other stakeholders to scope and create a research roadmap
Design and execute a portfolio of impactful research studies, including large scope surveys, usability studies, concept evaluations, group discussions, etc.
Synthesize findings into meaningful themes, turning them into actionable and impactful insights
Provide recommendations that shape how product teams think, ranging from short-term to long-term product strategy
Improve existing systems, processes, and programs that increase the research team efficacy
Be a research thought leader and advocate for our customers
We’re excited about you because…
You have 7+ years of demonstrable experience in quantitative and qualitative research and/or product, UX, or user research, including surveys and data analysis
Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and define research questions, identify appropriate methods, execute studies, and synthesize findings
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a willingness to proactively work with functions across the company
You are passionate about translating findings into strategic business recommendations
Ability to work independently and take initiative to solve problems in an ambiguous, fast-paced, dynamic environment
MA/MS or PhD in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or a related research or scientific field is preferred, but not required
