What do we offer ?
The Container Native Services team at aims to provide a rich set of services and tools to enable building and deploying of Cloud Services as containerized workloads and manage the entire development and deployment lifecycle. Oracle’s Container Engine for Kubernetes, Oracle Serverless and API Gateway are the flagship offerings from this organization. We are building new services to provide an App Development Platform, Service Mesh and services that Resource Governance and Compliance services .

Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Director of Software Development with expertise and passion for solving difficult problems in distributed systems, storage systems, databases, and highly available services. As a Director of Software Development, you will lead a software development team and be responsible for leading our efforts in identifying weaknesses in our handling of simultaneous failures of services and enable our teams to put tools and processes in place to uncover any gaps in availability in our end-to-end infrastructure and ensure the reliability of our infrastructure to successfully run customer workloads. You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to architect broad systems interactions while being hands-on, and able to dive deep into any part of the stack. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. Knowledge of performance and fault injection methodologies are strongly desired. Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
Hiring and mentoring your team.
Providing leadership, direction and strategy and executing on the identified strategy.
Representing the organization at the VP, SVP and EVP level.
Managing geographically distributed teams.
Delivering large scale project on-time with the high quality.
Keeping a high operational bar.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in managing large-scale organizations with multiple layers of management.
Strong knowledge of Java, C++ or C, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
Working familiarity with networking and routing protocols and standard network architectures.
Strong understanding of databases, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. / M.S. in Computer Science.
10+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems, preferably as a service owner.
Experience in a dynamic environment
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Experience building and operating performance testing tools and infrastructure a strong plus.
Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.
Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
