Description : We are looking for a Sports Brand Writer to help portray the fun, quirky and irreverent brand of the Daily Star, as well as find and report on stories and issues which matter to sports fans in a way that ensures as many people as possible find, discover and respond to our work.
We know sports media across the UK needs to be more representative of the fans who read our journalism. We particularly want to hear from people who feel their voice isn’t being heard in sports journalism, and who want to play a leading role in helping to shape a more inclusive future for sports journalism.
This is not a location dependent role and can be based anywhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
What will the role involve?
Find and tell stories about clubs which engage as many readers as possible, or stories which will be of interest to sports fans
Build communities online and audiences to share stories with once published, and engage with readers about those stories
Tell stories in many different ways, including (but not limited to) real-time live blogs, article format, video, audio and pictures
Ensure every piece of content is thoroughly researched and balanced prior to publication, in accordance with the Editor’s Code of practice
Act up or cover in other roles as and when required by the business
Uphold Reach’s policy around diversity and inclusion and work to ensure our values around non discrimination are upheld in everything we publish.
The Ideal Candidate
Who are we looking for?
Digital publishing skills – working a CMS, live blogging, podcasting, an understanding of audience analytics
Social media skills – Facebook, Twitter, track record of building communities on social media
Encyclopedic football knowledge, or relevant other sports
Passion for digital storytelling in local journalism
NCTJ or equivalent qualification
Strong track record in telling stories, accurately, which engage large audience
Proven track record for digital storytelling
