Reporting to: Curriculum Team Leader for Physical Education and Performing Arts
We are looking to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic specialist teacher of Music and Performing Arts to join our physical education and performing arts team. The successful candidate will be able to inspire students from ages 11-18 of all abilities to achieve their potential in this area. The ability to teach to A Level is desirable.
The music department hosts two large and well-equipped teaching rooms, one of which has desktop computers equipped with recording software. There are also two, smaller multi-function rehearsal spaces. KS3 covers the national curriculum; teaching students how to perform, compose and appraise music. Our KS4 classes study the Eduqas GCSE and we run the BTEC L3 Extended Certificate Music Performance course at KS5.
Performing arts has three rooms, the two largest are each equipped with portable staging and lighting rigs. KS3 students study drama as well as covering dance as part of their PE curriculum. We currently offer the BTEC L2 Tech Award at KS4 and BTEC L3 Extended Certificate Performing Arts course at KS5
Each year the department’s events include a musical production, summer festival, Christmas concert and GCSE recital evening as well as numerous trips to theatres and venues across the East Midlands. There will be ample opportunity for the suitable candidate to extend our extra-curricular provision based around their specialism.
