The University of Chester’s Centre for Foundation Studies is seeking to appoint a Visiting Lecturer to teach our Introduction to Programming module for students on the foundation year portion of their four-year Computing degrees.
This is from 3rd March to 29th April 2022. 9 hours teaching per week.
One group on Thursdays for 4.5 hours
One group on Fridays for 4.5 hours
The current hourly rate of pay for Visiting Lecturer work is £46.53.
The Centre for Foundation Studies teaches over 400 students undertaking the first (foundation) year of their four-year integrated Bachelor’s degree prior to progressing into faculties. Our teaching focus is on transition to higher education and there is an expectation that all teaching staff are able to support student engagement and retention and progression strategies.
Applicants will be considered for appointment by our Visiting Lecturer Panel and will typically be qualified to Master’s level. Experience of teaching and assessment is required. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to use their interest in the subject area to enthuse students in groups of up to 20.
The hourly rate includes the use of current teaching and learning materials and the marking of students’ assessments.
