Surfachem are excited to be offering a year’s placement position at our Laboratory at the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre in Huddersfield
this year.
This would ideally be suited for a Life Science Student studying at University who would be interested in gaining invaluable experience
working alongside our Development Chemist carrying out formulation development work mainly focussing on the homecare sector but
gaining a variety of experience throughout all industries served.

Key Responsibilities
1. Surfachem formulation development, including customer formulations and formulations for upcoming exhibitions.
2. Carry out analytical testing and evaluation of principals, competitors, and new potential supplier raw materials.
3. Assist chemists with day-to-day formulation design work, including preparation of chemicals and equipment.
4. Formulation stability testing.
5. Maintaining, calibrating, and cleaning of equipment, and ensuring the safe removal of waste.
6. Ordering and maintaining stock and resources. Ensure that everything is clearly and correctly labelled.
7. Collecting and preparing samples for testing, including preparation of stability, challenge, and QC samples.
8. Carry out routine tasks accurately following strict methodologies to carry out analysis.
9. Carry out COSHH assessments as chemicals come in, and ensure current assessments are up to date.
10. Performance testing on developed formulations.
11. To undertake any other duties relevant to the post as and when require.

1st, 2nd or penultimate year student in a LifeScience subject – Essential,
Chemistry student – Desirable
