Description : The Cancer Program program at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard seeks an organized and enthusiastic Research Operations Coordinator to provide integral support for several systematic, large-scale research projects in Robert Manguso’s laboratories based at the Broad Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital. You will join and help coordinate work alongside a large, talented team of research scientists and associates that are working together to make these projects successful. This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have realized that benchwork isn’t for them, but want to explore a new role that remains close to active science and enables scientific discovery.
This person knows how to get things done. This includes having excellent time management skills and versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced organization with constantly changing priorities. The ideal candidate for this position has a scientific background, is detail-oriented, organized, loves taking on new challenges, working across multiple projects, and will work well with a diverse group of team members to support scientific discovery. The individual in this role will provide scientific support, financial management, project coordination, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule project meetings and handle complex scheduling requests
Plan and facilitate internal team meetings and external collaborations
Participate in meetings by helping set agendas, taking minutes and tracking action items
Develop and monitor project budgets and report information to relevant parties
Assist in drafting protocol amendments and project reports for internal and external collaborators
Develop and support project plans; proactively identify and resolve issues
Together with team members, identify and implement operational solutions to ensure the lab runs smoothly
HR support as needed, e.g. job postings, tracking new hires, etc.
Assist with space allocation, renovation projects, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required, with at least one year of work experience. Experience in an academic or research setting strongly preferred.
Exceptional organizational skills needed.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff and external contacts required.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership for wide-ranging responsibilities.
Accuracy and great attention to detail and excellent follow through.
Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility to accommodate different situations and requirements.
Must be able to work independently and take initiative.
