About Role
You will be responsible for managing a team of Software Development Engineer-Infra Platform to build reliable, scalable and performant infra platforms to support millions of customers and drivers. You will be managing ola’s complex, large-scale systems across clouds. The right individual will embrace the opportunity to tackle challenging problems and use their influence to drive continual improvement. You will be working very closely with product development teams from design phase to productionization and helping applications developers to build reliable and scalable systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead a team of Software Development Engineer-Infra Platform, to ensure production infrastructure and applications are healthy, reliable and stable.
Building and implementing observability to know application’s health/performance/capacity.
Optimizing On-call rotations and processes.
Developing different kinds of tools to manage large scale web and data infrastructure.
Working with dev and product teams for new products or feature releases.
Working with dev and product teams to define SLI/SLO/Error Budgets/SLAs for their applications and infra platforms.
Working with the dev team to have an in-depth understanding of the application’s architecture, flows and its bottlenecks.
Identifying observability gaps in applications, infrastructure and working with respective owners to fix it.
Managing outages and doing detailed RCA with developers and presenting the RCA report to leadership.
Managing/Automating upgrades of the infrastructure services.
Automate toil work.
Participate in production outages and help engineers to make decisions to restore the site quickly.
Communicate effectively with people of all levels in the organization.
Recruit, retain and develop people skills to take bigger responsibilities and challenges.
Experience & Skills:
10+ years of experience in large-scale startups or enterprise companies production infrastructure.
4+ years of experience in managing a 10 plus members team.
A collaborative spirit with the ability to work across disciplines to influence, learn, and deliver.
A deep understanding of computer science, software development, distributed systems and networking principles.
Demonstrated experience with languages, such as Python, Java, Golang etc.
Extensive experience with Linux administration and good understanding of the various linux kernel subsystems (memory, storage, network etc).
Extensive experience in DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, GRPC, Routing and Load Balancing.
Experience in managing cross team projects and stakeholder management.
Expertise in GitOps, Infrastructure as a Code tools such as Terraform etc.
Expertise of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or other relevant Cloud Infrastructure solutions like Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
Experience in managing and deploying containerized environments using Docker, Mesos/Kubernetes is a plus.
Experience with multiple datastores is a plus (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, Couchbase, Scylla, Cassandra, Elasticsearch).
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (from premier institutes preferred)
