Job Details:
Company name : The University of Manchester
Position Name : Communications and Engagement Officer (Civic Engagement)
Location: Oxford Road, Manchester M13
Job ID : 9e45590690b64d96
Description : We are seeking a Communications and Engagement Officer to help us achieve a step-change in the way our world class research and knowledge impacts policymaking.
You will play a key part in helping to realise an ambitious engagement strategy for the award-winning Policy@Manchester initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a successful, high-profile team.
As a Communications and Engagement Officer, you will play a leading role in the successful delivery of a number of key engagement initiatives, aimed squarely at policymakers and influencers, utilising a broad range of tools and channels to set the agenda for policy debates and create impact.
Your responsibilities will include proactively identifying external opportunities, campaign planning and content scheduling, against-the-clock copywriting, delivering a packed programme of key events, commissioning and editing blog posts, and growing our online and social media presence.
You will work closely with your team colleagues to engage and support researchers and professional services colleagues across our three Faculties. You will build on existing activity – but also identify and maximise opportunities to connect research knowledge with policy audiences, and vice versa.
Importantly, you will be proactive in your approach to internal relationship building, and confident giving professional advice to senior colleagues and subject specialists. You will work to ensure engagement activity is considered and embedded from the outset within academic activity, not merely as an end-of-project exercise.
The role sits within the Directorate Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment and you will work with colleagues across the University. This role focuses on building relationships with key stakeholders with a regional focus. You will also be required to work collaboratively and flexibly on large team projects linked to fast moving agendas, and high profile events, regionally and in the UK.
The University of Manchester values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
