These Presidents represent students in their academic life through societies and sports alongside other recreational activities. The Union uniquely, has both democratic and charity governance with a student led Union council holding the Presidents and wider Union to account. Ultimately the Union’s mission is to ensure students studying at the University of Hull gain valuable life skills as well as the best education possible.Mission : Responsible for the overall implementation and development of HUSU’s Give it a Go programme, and to ensure the safe and accessible provision of student and staff led activities as part of the opportunities team.Responsibilities: -Deliver an exceptional Give It A Go programme that is in line with the values of the organisation and where possible co-produced with our Student members.Support student groups in leading their own GIAG taster sessions during Welcomefest and Welcomefest the Reunion. This will include contributing to the training of student volunteers to enable them to run high quality, safe taster sessions.Ensure activities are safe, inclusive and accessible, alongside supporting projects and events to make sure the HUSU Code of Conduct and policies are followed.Regularly carry out research with Students to co-produce HUSU’s Give It A Go programme throughout the year.Working to a budget, plan, deliver, evaluate and promote participation in HUSU’s Give it a Go programme and other events held such as awards evenings.Undertake face to face and digital engagement with students, thinking creatively and innovatively about methods of encouraging meaningful student participation with Union activitiesWork collaboratively with the wider Opportunities team on a range of projects and events in line with the strategic aims of the students’ union, including Welcomefest, awards events and Varsity.Support the Presidents and Part-Time Officers in developing activities and creating bespoke GIAG events.Establish and maintain relationships with colleagues across HUSU, the University and, where appropriate, external partners to ensure the delivery of HUSU’s student opportunities-focused activities.Undertake a range of administrative tasks and duties to ensure the development and delivery of HUSU’s student opportunities activities (including maintaining accurate records, drafting marketing materials and note taking).Prepare and present reports on matters relating to Student Opportunities and in particular the GIAG and Events programmes.Use the Student Union’s CRM (SUMS) effectively to enhance the delivery of student opportunities work in line with the strategic aims of the organisation.Conduct ongoing evaluation and monitoring of the Give It A Go programme, to include data such as participant feedback, ticket sales, attendance numbers and demographic breakdown, to drive service development and improvement.Working as a member of the Membership Services Team, the postholder may from time to time be required to support the work of colleagues within the wider team or across HUSU for joint events and activities. This might include for example, Welcome Fest, Varsity, Elections, Celebration and Award Events, Open days and training sessions through Committeefest.Work as part of a team to cover colleagues if absent for any reason to ensure the continued delivery of activities across all areas of the Opportunities team.Person Specification: Recognised level 4 qualification in Events planning or equivalent.Level one Health and Safety at Work.Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.Experience of using CRM systems.Demonstrable experience of planning and running events.Demonstrable experience of training and supporting volunteers and staff.Experience of Coordinating and organising staff teams in the delivery of events.Experience of creating and reviewing risk assessments.Excellent Customer service skills.Attention to detail & AccuracyAbility to write high quality reports.Ability to carry out ongoing monitoring and to evaluate pieces of work or programmes.Creative problem solving.Flexible positive can-do approach.Skilled in networking and building partnerships.Ability to work well as part of a team and independently without close supervision.We’re committed to ensuring our workforce accurately reflects the diversity of the world we live in.
