Description : NHSEI has an exciting opportunity for you to be a part of the leadership of the national Mental Health programme as one of the Heads of Mental Health. The post holder will lead national clinical strategy and policy, ensuring implementation of significant expansion and improvements in service access and outcomes for people with mental health problems and dementia across England. This is one of NHS England and Improvement’s national priorities. The post holder will play a key role in developing future strategy and policy beyond the life of Long Term Plan and as a senior leader will play a pivotal role in securing the future of mental health care through the move to local integrated care systems and provider collaboratives.
A key aspect of the role is managing the interface across a range of partner organisations, including the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Digital and NHS X and senior leaders in other Arm’s Length Bodies, regional and local NHS leaders and the Voluntary and Community Sector. This involves skilled engagement with senior external stakeholders, including ministers; representing NHS England and the Mental Health agenda with confidence.
As Head of Mental Health, the post holder will lead and work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the programmes including in leading development of future strategy and working closely with system leaders, to drive transformation in mental health care, supporting on-going quality improvement work and enabling greater devolution across the health system.
