Description : We’re looking for an enthusiastic and creative Design Assistant to join our Interior Design Team. You will be providing administrative and design support in order to improve the look and feel of the pubs, bars and letting bedrooms across the our estate.Brakspear is a family-run company dating back to 1711. We have many pubs in and around Henley-on-Thames, but stretching out to the Cotswolds, London and Brighton. Our sites are all unique, from picturesque gastro pubs with boutique style hotel rooms, to traditional pubs at the heart of the community. We pride ourselves on the fact that our pubs are all different to one another. Our buildings are mostly historic and attractive and often challenging but never dull.The Design Team are based at our Henley on Thames Head Office and are a friendly, hardworking and are supportive team to be part of.Your responsibilities: Design and Creative – Assisting with preparing design proposals – using sketching, VectorWorks and PowerPoint, as well as creating sample boards.- Drawing-up accurate furniture plans, bathroom plans, lighting and electrical drawings, and detailed working drawings for bespoke joinery.- Assisting on-site with the installation of furniture and artwork for our projects. This includes styling and displaying artwork and bric-a-brac in creative ways.- Suggesting creative ideas for refreshing old or vintage furniture.- Sourcing items for projects as required. This will involve researching efficiently online, scouring auctions and shops, analysing the most suitable options and communicating recommendations to the Head of Interior Design.- Being the first point of contact for suppliers. This will involve meeting with suppliers to keep abreast of their new products, and updating the Design Team as appropriate.- On occasions, visiting pubs to advise tenants on suitable paint colours/carpets/artwork etc for refurbishment projects.Administration – There will be a significant amount of administrative work but this will be varied and will include; processing and monitoring orders and deliveries to ensure items arrive on schedule; liaising with contractors and suppliers; researching products and suppliers; maintaining organised financial records of project expenditure.- Overseeing the Design Team’s library of samples and brochures – ensuring that it is well organised and up-to-date.- Overseeing our furniture storage facilities and keeping an up-to-date inventory.Project Support – Attending project- and site-meetings – taking notes, photographs and dimensions as appropriate.- Assisting with coordinating smooth-running projects by providing timely and efficient support – ensuring that deadlines are met.- Producing accurate schedules for suppliers and contractors as required – for example lighting and sanitary-ware schedules.You will need: – Interior design qualification and full driving licence are essential.- Energetic, hands-on approach – willing to ‘get stuck-in’ to all aspects of our design projects.- Strong technical drawing skills, including VectorWorks. Ability to quickly produce basic 3D room models (SketchUp or similar) is desirable.- Space planning – able to suggest ways of laying out furniture which will look inviting to our customers whilst also maximising seating capacities.- Ability to work ‘cost effectively’ – reinvigorating existing furniture and sourcing items from a mixture of auctions, online, and high street stores in order to create a designer look on a budget.- Strong verbal and written communication skills – polite, friendly and professional when dealing with our tenants, suppliers, contractors and the Brakspear team.- Administrative experience is not required but a high level of accuracy and excellent organisational skills are essential.- Flexibility – must be flexible in terms of willingness to travel to our pubs, and working outside standard office hours at particularly busy times.To Apply: Please send your CV, Cover Letter and a few examples of your work to the email address shown.Reference ID: ID AssistantJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: From £22,000.00 per yearBenefits:Company eventsEmployee discountOn-site parkingSchedule:Monday to FridayWork remotely:No
